Initial Business Response / [redacted] (1000, 8, 2015/08/22) */ I was quite surprised to get this complaint filed against me, but I will explain my side of this matter to give you a better understanding of things from my perspective I have been the Owner/Operator of Valley Motel for almost yearsThis is a small motel in a small town, so business is very seasonalMay-November is always my busiest time of year, but even that fluctuates considerably from year to year, depending on if there on any major work projects in the areaThis year I am fortunate to have several pipeline workers renting my rooms on a weekly basisThe lifeblood of my business is centered around providing rooms for work crews, at discounted rates for extended staysDuring my peak season, I generally have very limited rooms available for short term guests, but if I can accommodate them without jeopardizing a potential extended stay, I do my best to provide them with a room In this instance, I was expecting to hear from a pipeline foreman who had already rented rooms here for several weeks this yearHe had told me his crew was close to finished with a project in another location, and he expected to be needing rooms for 8-workers, for approximately three months I won't deny that I refused to rent them a room for one night, but for the reasons mentioned above, I felt it was in my best interest not to chance renting a room out to ANY short term guestsIt was nothing negative personally directed at themI was not rude to them in any way, they just seemed to feel that if I had a room available, I was obligated to rent it to them The theory that "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush" isn't really applicable in this situation, since it could potentially cause me to lose "a whole flock"My reasons for not being willing to take that risk were valid, so I don't feel a complaint to Revdex.com was warranted, but I realize emotions can run high after losing a loved one, so I apologize if they were upset by my decision Sincerely, Brad [redacted] Initial Consumer Rebuttal / [redacted] (3000, 10, 2015/08/24) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) You are either renting rooms to the general public or you are notIf your business is renting on a weekly or monthly basis only, then you should advertise as suchUnder the rental conditions you hold, you are not a motel, you are a rooming house or extended stay facilityAnd, you were very rude and short with both my wife and I, on separate callsAfter we arrived in Hallock and were welcomed at another motel, we drove past yours and saw only two vehicles parked in front of a building and grounds that are in very poor conditionWe were glad you refused to rent to us!

You are either renting rooms to the general public or you are not. If your business is renting on a weekly or monthly basis only, then you should advertise as such. Under the rental conditions you hold, you are not a motel, you are a rooming house or extended stay facility. And, you were very rude and short with both my wife and I, on separate calls. After we arrived in Hallock and were welcomed at another motel, we drove past yours and saw only two vehicles parked in front of a building and grounds that are in very poor condition. We were glad you refused to rent to us!
