Valley Movers Reviews (%countItem)

My wife and I hired Awesome Movers to load our household items, in Fresno, CA, into a truck for moving to Bullhead City, AZ. ***, Owner, and his foreman, ***, came to our home and reviewed all items that were to be moved. ***, the foreman said that any items we were unable to wrap for protection, he would take care of. *** gave a price quote of 3 hours, for $325.
On October 24, 2017 *** and four helpers arrived and loaded our household items into the trailer that had been brought to our location. It took them 5 1/2 hours, and *** charged $565.00. During the loading, we ask *** if he needed any more packing blankets to protect the various items, and he said he didn't need them. He did have some plastic wrap, but ran out, and did not get any more.
When the trailer arrived at the Bullhead City, AZ location on November 5, 2017, we hired a local company to off load everything. During the off loading, the company foreman commented that the loading had been very poo,r and many items had not been adequately protected from damage. We discovered damage to the bed foot board that had been gouged by some metal object. The foot board had not been protected. There were cuts in the leather cushions of two dining chairs, where they had been in contact with hard objects. These had not been protected. The top section of our antique roll top desk had the interior frame broken away from the outer frame, and the top had been split. Paint on the side of a tall lamp had been scrapped off by a hard object that had come in contact with it, again it had no padding on it. A display stand had a severe gouge in the top from contact with a metal object.
We called *** on 11/5 and notified him of the damages. He requested that we send him photos of the damaged items. The photos were emailed to him that same day.
*** called back and told me that we had not protected the items well enough with moving blankets and bubble wrap. I reminded him that his foreman, *** had assured us that any items that needed additional protection would be taken care of by him prior to loading. I requested the name address and phone number of his Insurance Agent so that we could file a claim. *** declined to provide that information.
We have called ***'s phone number 3 times since and left voice mail messages requesting Insurance information, with no response. We have also emailed him 2 additional times, again with no response.
We wish to get this ***er resolved without the necessity of legal action.

dear sirs

I was contacted by Mrs *** about loading a Pod initially which turned out to be an ABF freight trailer. Mrs *** was adamant that she only had so much money and required a "deal"

for the ABF loading. I consented but advised Mrs *** that there were things I would require to accomplish the load. The damages I was given pictures of are NOT loading issues but prep

issues. With the time constraints we faced due to budgetary constraints - I prepped what I understood to be the most expensive items. The things that I asked Mrs *** to do to help us time wise

were not done. Blankets, shrink wrap and the time to properly prepare the items all cost money and take time - we did what we could do based on what Mrs *** had already told us her budget was.

We assume 100% liability when we load drive and unload but cannot assume liability for the ABF driver nor the crew that unloaded. ***s comments were based on our usual routine which had to be

changed due to ***s budget for the load. I am open to some type of compromise or any further questions as a wish the best for all our customers.

Valley Movers Response

Dear SirsThere are three types of moves - 1 DIY do it yourself, 2 Hybrid subcontracted loading driving and unloading, 3 FULL SERVICE - contracted through a single moving company, who will supply and master all phases of the move. (this is also the most expensive option) At Awesome Movers we guarantee every thing !00%, when we are hired for full service moves. The issues on *** and ***'s ABF were not loading issues but preparation issues, superior preparation will safeguard against cracks, scratches and gauges. *** did tell me that he was present at the unload but our ABF driver had 1,800 miles to drive which only he was present for. If he took route 40 out to the east coast he had grades and mountain ranges to deal with and if he took route 80 he still had other drivers to deal with. I am not in a position to access blame but how could we possibly know if another car didn't signal and pulled in front him - causing him to slam his brakes and subsequently affect our load. This is a concern for me all subcontractors have to work together for a successful move. For a Hybrid move, the load phase of ABF freight trailers (which are the hardest and most expensive to load because their meant to carry freight not household goods) of a 3 bedroom house under 2,000 sq ft with 4 movers for 4 hours your estimates will be between $700 to $800 dollars. Please do your own research moving estimate calculators are common place in 2017. *** and *** paid for 2!! movers the rest of my crew (2 more movers) were covered at my expense to get the job done!! I make that statement to point out that there was no quote of $300, my quote would have been for $800 with superior preparation done!! The first thing that *** informed me of was their budget for the load - she choose $300 and because she was a referral I committed to do everything I could to meet her budget priority. ( which I was ultimately unable to do ) The commitments that ***hew and I made were because we wanted to serve ***. We were put in a position where we had to pick and choose priority wise. It was a tremendous job and we had only so much time in order to keep *** and ***'s costs where they wanted them. I am trying to run a business so the savings had to come from somewhere, $300 - $500 only buys so much time for 2 or 4 movers. If at anytime *** or *** felt as though we needed to rethink the budget - I would have gladly made more time to wrap every single item twice over. In hind sight I should have made that more clear.Shrink wrap and blankets are a service we can provide to our customers but it is not incumbent upon the movers to supply the accessories that YOU need to move YOUR things to Indiana. *** or *** could have gone to the store at anytime for any ancillary items that were needed. With all due respect to the unloaders in Indiana, I have worked in this industry for 17 years and the number of clients that have been dissatisfied by my expertise I can count on two hands and I have probably done 600 moves. Having pointed out my concerns, I want *** and *** happy they are good people !! *** has already published a very unsavory review, which she is entitled to her opinion but for me to commit to ***'s financial comprise is an admission of fault. I am unwilling to do that - communication errors possibly but liability no. I am requesting 30 to consider another resolution - please advise .......................... ***thank you

Customer Response

I am rejecting this response because:

To: ***

Resolution and Review Specialist

Ms. Carmona;

In reply to Mr.’s
message, received 12/5/2017.

I shall take this point by
point:

1. His first paragraph
relating the types of moves is irrelevant to this issue, However, in his
Business advertisement it states how experienced they are in loading ABF
trailers.

2. The issues are;

A. Awesome movers did not prepare the items, that they
agreed to protect, adequately.

B. Awesome movers loaded items next to hard objects,
without adequate protection, thereby causing
damage.

3. *** and I wrapped and
boxed everything, except those items *** and *** assured us would be
protected, and they would supply shrink wrap.
At that time *** stated that they would take down the bed, TV and large
mirror and wrap them properly.

4. Apparently Mr.’s records, are quite poor. The load was NOT scheduled to go 1800 miles
to Indiana.
It was taken to Bullhead City, Arizona,
440 miles from Fresno.

5. *** did, in
fact, provide a quote of $300.00, with loading time of 3 hours. He and his foreman, ***, came to or
residence several days prior to the move date, observed all rooms, and all
items to be moved. Mr. again
reiterated the $300 quote, with 3 hours load time, and that they would have 4
helpers to do loading. Mr. repeatedly assured us that they could
complete the loading within the 3 hour time frame.

6. During loading we ask
*** if they needed additional packing blankets for wrapping
items. agreed to get the blankets
within 20 minutes. Mr. replied, ”No,
there is not enough time.” For that
reason, several items were not adequately protected, and suffered damage.

7. We feel that a reasonable
resolution for this ***er would be for Awesome Movers to reimburse us for 50%
of the final bill of $567.50. That would
be $283.75. Should Mr. be
unwilling to resolve the ***er in this way, we will have to seek a legal
resolution, which could result in much greater expense n Mr.’s part.

We would appreciate a
response within 10 days.
