After receiving a pre-approved notice in the mail for debt consolidation loan with interest rate at 3.09%, we decided to call and take advantage of the offer Of course we find out that offer is not available but a home equity loan is After reading the other review which is exactly the way our experience went, Valley National Funding is sending out notices fishing for a way to lure people in on loan offers that are not what they truly offer

Sent me a pre-screened offer of credit at rates ranging from 2.99-4.99% Because of my high DTI, they did not offer me their product they mailed me about but offered me a debt restructure which would require me closing my credit card accounts They said my avg FICO was 658, when I have 5+ other sources (free scores from credit card companies, mint.com, etc.) that quote it at 730+ ranging across all bureaus
Oh, and did I mention I work for a consumer lending company? Ya, I submitted an application through our site, and got my FICO from TransUnion It was a So what's the deal? My credit profile has not changed in two months, so whatever it was when they pulled me at pre-screen, it is still the same Granted they don't know my income at pre-screen, so if I did not qualify for the product they mailed me because of DTI, fine, but don't they owe me an adverse action letter? Or is that not the case, since they offered a different product? I called back and left a message that I wanted a copy of my credit reports that they used to get my score We'll see if they follow through
Seems like of things is happening:
1) This company is bait and switching, sending out firm offers of credit with enticing offers listed and then saying the credit is worse than it actually is to offer a different product
2) They are using a different FICO score than everyone else (the salesman tried to tell me the sites I was getting mine from were giving me "FAKO" scores)
Either way, I feel like the sales tactics here are very deceptive and aimed at confusing the uneducated into doing something that really is not in their best interest I asked about the APR multiple times, and he kept quoting the monthly payments Then I pointed out the 0% he was offering me made no sense as they wouldn't make any money, at which point he said there are fees in the monthly payments, but still didn't give me the actual APR Hint, fees are factored into an APR calculation
