To whom it may concern:I am writing this email in response to the complaint listed in the above subject line. The facts:We contract with whichever insurance plans pay us market rate for the care we provide. We choose not to contract with all plans. We file the insurance claims as a courtesy to our...
patients instead of taking a cash payment and having them file themselves. We are contracted with [redacted] of AZ.We are not contracted with [redacted] as it is a plan for people in Pima and Pinal counties.[redacted] of AZ will not process any claims when a patient has a secondary unless they do what is called a coordination of benefits.Patients can't pick and choose which plan they use as a primary or secondary. The plans decide.Traci K[redacted] called our office last week to schedule an appointment. She let our scheduler know she has [redacted] and [redacted] as a secondary. She was told she cannot be seen unless she is seen as a cash paying patient. She became argumentative with our scheduler and asked to speak to me. We never spoke. However, I did leave her a message letting her know we refuse to file only with [redacted] as it is a violation of our contract terms with the payer. We cannot just choose to use the [redacted] as they will not process claims when there is a need to coordinate benefits. She was told she could be seen as a cash patient. Additionally, it states very clearly in our policy that "If you are covered by an insurance plan that [redacted] is not contracted with, or you have no insurance coverage, our charge for your care or the care of your dependent(s) will be due at the time of service."In resolution, there is a written financial policy in place. The patient signed one years ago when she was here. The patient is not scheduled, and will not be scheduled based on her insurance coverage. If she wants to pay cash (as per our written policy) we will be happy to see her and collect at the time of service. We do not encourage our patients to be non compliant in regards to their responsibilities as the insured.Respectfully,BeckyBecky L[redacted]Practice AdministratorValley OB GYN Associates, PC
