Valley Regional Occupational Reviews (1)

August 16, 2017 I would like to explicitly address the false allegations and accusations stated by Ms. [redacted] against Valley ROP and myself regarding the Summer Certified Nurse Assistant Course she was enrolled in from June 12-June 20 of this year.  Please be aware that Valley Regional...

Occupational Program is not a business we are a Career Technical Education School District funded by the California Department of Education.  1. Orientation for this summer CNA class was held on May 1, 2017.  During that orientation all items pertaining to the class are explained and the students sign off that they were made aware of them. The CNA handbook is one of those items and in it are all the requirements of the class, including attendance, non-refunds of tuition, testing requirements etc.   2. Ms. [redacted] was absent on June 15 for 1 1/2 hrs and for 1 hr on June 20. This exceeds the 2 hr. requirement for attendance.  However, I spoke with her on June 20 and told her that she could remain in class because the time missed was a half hour and she was doing well in class but she needed to be mindful of not missing any more time.  The next day she was a no call-no show in class and I deleted her from the roster.  She dropped herself by not attending class.   3. She stated that she finished the theory part of the class which in fact she did not since she was absent for the last 2 days because we started the clinical portion on June 23.   4. Ms. [redacted]’s allegation that I left the class for 2 hrs. is outrageous.  If I were to need to leave the class a substitute takes my place.  So I have no idea of what she is referring to.   5. As far as her complaint about used books, yes we do order used books that are in good condition. I don’t know what equipment she is referring to that she had to buy because the training equipment is provided by Valley ROP.  This allows us to keep the cost of the class to a minimum.   6.  Ms. [redacted] was able to be enrolled through Cal Works and we presume that either all or part of her course fee was paid by it.  She never requested reimbursement because she signed documents acknowledging our policies and non-reimbursement.   In summary, all of our CNA programs are approved by the California Department of Public Health and are professionally planned and implemented with high success rates of the students passing their State Certification exam which makes them eligible for employment opportunities. The items I mentioned previously (Paragraph 1) are contained in our CDPH approved Policy and Procedure Manual.   See attached course flyer and CNA handbook with course policies.   Respectfully submitted,   [redacted] Health Careers Coordinator/Instructor Valley ROP
