Valley Small Engine Repair Reviews (10)

Excellent service, fixed just what needed to be fixed, and fixed it well. Our Craftsman Garden Tractor runs better than it has in a long time. I will definitely continue to do business with Valley Small Engine Repair.

I have used this service for several years now, and found nothing but respect for me and my problems. Peter listens, addressing the issues, then offering options. The final decision is mine. Done in a timely period. Thank you Peter. Diane

Fixed the engine on my portable generator. Price charged was very reasonable and as quoted. Picked up at my home and returned when repaired. Repairs were done quickly. A+++ in my book.

Review: Friend took riding mower to be fixed. Belt and 2 pullies. Valley had mower 3 weeks or more. I called 8-5-13. He said it was ready the next day. Friend picked it up 8-10-13. It was tore all apart and not fixed. Called Valley. He said it would cost to put it back together. He said it was to hard to put it back together. He said the rear end was going bad. It worked fine before taken in. Just needed belt and pullies. Gas tank and gas missing. Maybe other parts don't know.Desired Settlement: Give part or parts back and pay someone else to fix.

In reference to the complaint filed with the Revdex.com on September 2, 2013 against Valley Small Engine Repair, the following includes my account of the situation. The customer is correct in stating the length of time in which we had her mower. The gentleman who brought it in was told it would be 2 - 3 weeks before service would be complete. I have no recollection of receiving a phone call from the customer on August 5, 2013; however it is possible that she called. When we tore the mower apart in order to install the belts and pulleys, we found that, in our opinion, the rear end (transaxle) was about to fail. Fixing this would have been throwing good money after bad. At this time, I contacted the gentleman who brought the mower in. He stated he would come and pick it up. It is not our policy to reassemble parts when the mower is not going to be fixed. The gentleman stated, "She is going to be awful mad because it's not put back together." He did, however, state that he understood our policy. Because of this, I waived the standard $25.00 diagnostic fee. At that time, I offered him an old mower that I had available for $50.00. I explained that because of its age, I couldn't guarantee anything. In turn, he told me that it would be 10 days before the customer would have funds available to pay me. When I realized that this was the situation, I offered the afore-mentioned mower to him, but I was told he had no room in his vehicle in which to haul it. Either a few hours later or the next day - I do not recall - the customer called me. She was very upset. I offered her the above mentioned mower at no cost. This did not calm her down; in fact, she proceeded to tell me exactly what she thought of Valley Small Engine Repair. I replied, "Ma’am, I’m sorry that is the way you feel. I’ve done all I can do. Good Bye."

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. In regards to the answer from Valley Small Engine Repair, Mr. Nicolai did not offer my friend a mower fo $50.00. When I talked to him he did not offer me the mower for $50.00 or said I could have it at no cost. There was no mention of my gas tank or the gas in the tank which was full. He still has my gas tank and gas. He could have other parts to the mower, I don't know. He offered my friend the mower for $200.00 not $50.00. My mower went there to be fixed which wasn't. Not to come back tore all a part.Regards,[redacted]

To Revdex.comI didn't know I was making an offer when I responded to this complaint, In response to her saying I took her gas tank & gas, I don't have her gas and I don't have her gas tank. She said I didn't offer her a riding mower for free. I still have the mower that I offered and she is still welcome to come and pick it up for free.Regards,Peter Nicolai

Pete has been maintaining our ride-on mowers for many years. First our Husqvarna, now more recently our John Deere. His service is affordable and dependable. I highly recommend Pete and Valley Small Engine Repair.

Valley has been my small engine repair go-to place for the past 5 years or so. Honest, dependable, pleasant service is always displayed, and at a reasonable price. In fact, [redacted] is more than fair in his dealings. His pickup/driveway service is a big positive. He has stayed with an elusive mower problem on several occasions right to the solution at the least inconvenience to me. I've recommended him to several neighbors.
