Valley Springs Signs & Graphics Reviews (1)

Review: The vendor was to print custom shirts/sweatshirts in our school colors, for the cheerleading squad. School colors are maroon & gold. The vendor used a maroon that is closer to red and (her words) added white underneath to make it "pop". The finished product does not appear maroon at all & is not our school colors. Adding white underneath brightened the ink, making it appear more red. The vendor has been contacted several times to replace the items but ignores our communication. The kids will not be able to wear the items as red is not allowed at school. The order was close to $3000 and we are still without a resolution for a product that was given to us on 7/31. Cheer is a sport that is 100% funded by the kids and their parents so the kids are being penalized for something that is not their fault. We have used this vendor in the past and are very unhappy that we are being treated unfairly.

I have copies of all communication between the vendor and I. On 8/7 she agreed to replace them. Then on 8/14 she saw one of the shirts she printed last year using the same ink. It upset her that we did not have an issue last year...but we did. She just does not understand that just because she used the same ink, the end result is not the same. She informed me that she used white ink underneath to make the color pop, so of course the white brightened the ink. White + maroon = red.

Initial Business Response

For the past two years I have printed shirts for this organization. I was never told of any concern or problem in the past, in fact they LOVED them. I used QCM Maroon ink on BLACK shirts this year and last year, and printed them exactly as I have in the past. Maroon ink over a white under base which is standard for any dark colored shirt. Upon delivery of all items I took each and every item out and showed front and back to [redacted] (person filing this complaint). After seeing all items [redacted] then paid me the balance due. A few days later I was notified that they were unhappy with the color of maroon. I told them that this is the same color, same process I have always used. I was told that these shirts were a different color maroon as those I've done in the past and the students could not wear this color. Not having prior years shirts to compare to, I told her I would replace the two items that had the color in which they were unhappy with. One of the cheerleaders, who cheers with my daughters, at a different organization came to practice with a past years shirt on that I printed. When I noticed that it was in fact the same color maroon that I printed this year I felt that the coaches were not being honest with me and trying to make me redo shirts that they should of let me know they were unhappy with in years past. I then told her that I would not replace the shirts but offer the organization their next order at cost. [redacted] admitted that they were wrong but in no way offered to meet me half way. I have responded to each and every email and text that was sent to me. I went on their schools website and noticed in several pictures, even the schools logo, that a lighter maroon is being used. Knowing the colors shirts come in even one of the coaches on the football team in one picture is wearing [redacted] High shirt on Cardinal Red!! So again, I am feeling that they want me to pay for their mistake. I too have copies of all correspondence including the proof I sent to one of the coaches telling me to go ahead. I know this does not change anything, but I do not charge this organization any screen set up fees, film charges, artwork charges and last year replaced missing items even after verification was made of items received. I feel they are being unreasonable in their request.

Final Consumer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)

I ([redacted]) never agreed that we were.wrong...not sure what she is referring to. Vendor jas not responded to our emails...When I 1st contacted her regarding the color, I clearly stated we would like to do what was easiest for her. When she delivered the shirts, it was almost 8:30 pm & we met in a parking lot...kind of hard to make out colors in the dark. I have also asked for an invoice, several times & still have not received it. The vendor got approval to print the shirts from a coach that is her friend & gets free items from her...I did not approve the color yet I have to pay for the color. The vendor chose to use white underneath the shirts...she stated so...which lightened the maroon. The shirts from last year may be the same maroon but they are darker. If you provide me with an email addrs, I can send pictures of the final product. The ink on the white shirts look maroon, but on the black shirt & grey shirt it is red.

Final Business Response

I have responded to all emails. Invoice has been sent. As stated above, I used the SAME process, same colors, SAME jar of QCM maroon ink, and YES a white underbase on all black shirts that had maroon in past and present seasons. It would of been much more beneficial to me to NOT use a white underbase, would of saved me time and money. As far as [redacted] being my friend, she is my daughters cheer coach for the first time ever this year. [redacted] and I do not communitcate other than cheer and this order. As far as her getting free merchandise, that is a common practice for the person PLACING THE ORDER. As I stated above, again, [redacted] sends me the order, the artwork, approves the artwork and negotiates the price. How am I to know someone else is in charge? Yes, [redacted] gives me the money, but I don't know if she is the treasurer or what. Never have I been told to whom I need to get approval from. If there was an easy way to rectify this without redoing the order, and if [redacted] was honest in her side of the story I may consider redoing what they were not happy with, just to make them happy. But I printed the order as asked, and the same as in the past. I'm sorry that there was a change in heart this year.
