I had 5 supposedly reputable chimney service companies out to quote me on repair of my 25 plus year old factory built fireplace. It was an absolute CIRCUS! First of all, I did not like any of them and felt strongly that I was not being helped or treated fairly at all. My word of advise to all out there in need of chimney service and/or repair: READ ALL THE CUSTOMER REVIEWS POSTED FOR A COMPANY BEFORE YOU CHOOSE TO HAVE THEM IN YOUR HOME, not just the first few that show up, and you'll find that your choices become significantly filtered and narrowed down. After all of the disappointment and frustration, I had just about given up until I was referred to Valor by my general contractor. I read all online reviews for them and it hit me: I FINALLY FOUND AN HONEST COMPANY! So after being quoted over $12,000.00 by these 5 other novice companies, I decided to have them out. The owner, Dave came out personally even after listening to me voice my frustrations! He did his inspection which took over two hours and did inform me that yes, the manufacturer of my fireplace was in fact extinct. He then took the time to explain ALL my options, one of them being keeping the fireplace but replacing all 4 firebox panels, the gas starter and valve, chimney chase cover and cap ( stainless steel ). It sounded really expensive BUT, the price for all was UNDER $4000! He also noticed my masonry furnace chimney was in need of rebuild and re-lining, and quoted me to do that as well. That's when I thought, ok, NOW WERE TALKING BIG DOLLARS. Much to my surprise, all work quoted totaled under $9000! No one even took the time to even get on the roof! Not to mention point out a very important safety concern! Surprisingly, I still saved $3000! I had Valor do the work and schedule the rebuild for spring. From start to finish, Valor was the most professional quality company I have ever dealt with! I and my property were cared for like I've NEVER experienced before. I have been using the fireplace regularly, and more importantly, feel safe! I have referred Valor to several friends and co workers and have heard the same thing from all! Thank You Dave!
