V&B Auto Repair Reviews (1)

Review: On 12/17/15 I brought my 2007 [redacted] to V & B Auto Repair for a tune up and to check a whistling sound in the vent. They replaced spark plugs, #3 cylinder, ignition coil & air filter as needed. Then replaced the water pump, purged air from system & refilled. Pressure test to confirm repair, Disposed of waste coolant and replaced the thermostat. I paid a total of $858.94. The next day I called and said I had no heat in my car (which was never the initial complaint). On 1/4/16 I took a day off of work and brought my car back and V & B Auto Repair looked at it for an entire day and could not find the problem. Said they needed to take the entire dash board off. This is at least a 7-8 hour labor job. I couldn’t afford anything else and had to drive my car w/o heat until 2/15/16 when on the way to work my car was too cold to drive the hour commute and check engine lights came on. My car was not safe to drive and had to bring it to a local mechanic by my office. I explained the work that was just previously done and they flushed the cooling system and flushed the heater core. Totaling in $131.02. This still did not fix the problem. I brought my car back to them on 2/19/16 and they replaced the thermostat and the problem was fixed. This was another $99.51. I tried calling V & B Auto Repair on 2/22/16 and left numerous messages for Bob. It wasn’t until 2/24/16 that I was able to get in touch with Bob. Bob said he cannot reimburse anything I paid since I did not bring it to him. I did bring it back to him on 01/04/16 and his shop wanted to take the dash off. I should not be paying for a job that did not work. Especially since I had to pay another $230.53 to fix their mistake. Not to mention I went almost 2 months without any heat in my car.Desired Settlement: I would like my money back for the job V & B Auto Repair. Bob said he will give me a $100 credit towards future work but will not put it in writing. I am not happy about this offer. The problem the entire time faulty thermostat V & B Auto Repair had "replaced".

Response:

[redacted] brought the 2007 [redacted] to the shop back in December, 2015. car was here for check engine light which when we scanned it discovered it needed a minor tune up, Spark Plugs, Air Filter and one ignition coil. While it was here we discovered it had a coolant leak and customer approved the work. We changed the leaky water pump and replaced the thermostat also. Car left here with the heat working but the next day she complained it had no heat. she did bring car back and I was off that day and my guys looked at it and determined they thought the dash would have to come out to fix the hot/cold blend door actuator. [redacted] picked up the car and I did not here from her until last week. She said she brought car to another shop and was requesting a refund from me. I said if you brought it back to me I would of fixed at no charge and I could not refund her for another shops work. These [redacted]'s have terrible heating systems. It's a known problem getting the system to bleed properly of air. We have had multiple problems with [redacted] cooling systems over the years. The Thermostat was $39.10 and approximately half hour labor at $50 I said I would give her a $100 credit at the shop.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

I had heat when I brought my car there for the tune up and coolant leak. It was only after V & B Auto Repair worked on my car did the heat stop working. I did call the next day to complain and brought my car in again for them to look at it. My car was looked at for an entire day and they could not figure out what was wrong w/ my car. Yes, they wanted to take the entire dash off and look at the blend door actuator. That is a 7-8 hour labor job plus parts. I declined that offer because I had just put a lot of money into my car and couldn’t afford it at the time. I thought I could maybe get through winter w/o heat and it wasn’t until my car almost broke down on the way to work for it being too cold did I have to bring it to a second shop. The problem was fixed after they put in a NEW THERMOSTAT. The thermostat that V & B Auto had originally put it did not work. Therefore, I had to pay another $230 for another shop to correct the problem V & B created. If I had them take the entire dash off like they wanted I would have paid for unnecessary work. A $100 credit towards future work does not suffice. Especially when it was first offered I was told I couldn’t get it in writing. If the work was done correctly to begin w/ this complaint would never be taking place. I would like a full refund for the work completed at V & B Auto Repair. I paid for work that was not effective and had to pay another shop for it to be corrected. It is not fair that I have had to pay all of this extra money. You should stand by your work and employees. I have attached all the receipts for this entire nightmare.

Regards,
