My response to the allegation of a mold issue in #that hasn’t been addressed is as follows It is true there was a mold issue in unit #while her daughter was a tenant in that unit at the end of last year Her daughter brought the concern to our attention in December of When we investigated we found evidence of surface mold on one of the walls Because we were not certain how extensive the issue was or the time and mess that may be involved in remediation we allowed her daughter to transfer to another unit so we could begin repair We initially went in (January 2016) to address the mold issue and treated the affected surface area with a 50% bleach/ 50% water combination We found once the surface mold had been treated and cleaned the issue was resolved We have continually checked the unit and no mold has ever resurfaced We have surmised the previous tenant did not run her bathroom fan which over the course of several months caused an issue with surface mold This is impossible to verify with the previous tenant as she abandoned the unit she transferred into within one month Yesterday afternoon I did receive an e-mail from [redacted] including an attached doctor’s note stating that her residing in the unit was causing her physical/mental health to deteriorate and she needed to be allowed out of her lease While I don’t agree there is any mold issue contributing to her physical ailment we will not dispute a doctor’s diagnosis We have decided to allow [redacted] out of her lease and will return her damage deposit providing she submits a day notice and complies with all the terms of the move out process
My response to the allegation of a mold issue in #16 that hasn’t been addressed is as follows. It is true there was a mold issue in unit #16 while her daughter was a tenant in that unit at the end of last year. Her daughter brought the concern to our attention in December of...
2015. When we investigated we found evidence of surface mold on one of the walls. Because we were not certain how extensive the issue was or the time and mess that may be involved in remediation we allowed her daughter to transfer to another unit so we could begin repair. We initially went in (January 2016) to address the mold issue and treated the affected surface area with a 50% bleach/ 50% water combination. We found once the surface mold had been treated and cleaned the issue was resolved. We have continually checked the unit and no mold has ever resurfaced. We have surmised the previous tenant did not run her bathroom fan which over the course of several months caused an issue with surface mold. This is impossible to verify with the previous tenant as she abandoned the unit she transferred into within one month. Yesterday afternoon I did receive an e-mail from [redacted] including an attached doctor’s note stating that her residing in the unit was causing her physical/mental health to deteriorate and she needed to be allowed out of her lease. While I don’t agree there is any mold issue contributing to her physical ailment we will not dispute a doctor’s diagnosis. We have decided to allow [redacted] out of her lease and will return her damage deposit providing she submits a 30 day notice and complies with all the terms of the move out process.
