I went in on the dealer website for an online quote for my truck to obtain a trade in value prior to going to the dealership I answered all questions about the truck and chose the lowest quality condition of "rough" The value I received from the site was $ I also went onto the NADA site to verify the trade in value and received the same trade in value of $(again choosing "rough" condition) When I arrived to the dealership, after waiting for an hour for the salesman to give me the estimate, I was told the truck was only worth $ The salesman proceeded to tell me the website estimated value is based more of a "San Diego environment and not a New York environment" (his words) Then why does NADA ask for your zip code when calculating the estimated value?! This was a bait and switch just to get people in the door and yet further reinforces that dishonesty is ok as long as you have enough lawyers and fine print
