Van Klaveren Auctions Reviews (%countItem)

I am not impressed! Many items sold at minimum price of $5 (note vk auctions) get 35% of this plus another $3.00 for preparing bid listing. So they get $4,75 and seller gets $0.25. 97.5 % to them is outrageous! You have to sell the piece at over $20 to get the same(50%) as VK auctions. Also they don.t have minimum bids(or they do not inform you of it if they do). They break down
a set into smaller pieces to get more $4 prep charges and keep consignment in highest range(ie 35% versus 30%( over $ 300). Not all things given for auction included. (ie I included underpad,
placemats, tablecloth and serviettes with dining room set I wanted to sell but they were not included.)So I received $81 for the dining room set in excellent condition which cost over $ 4500.
Oh I also received $0.25 (yes 25cents) for two brass Stiffel lamps in great condition.(cost over $100). They have a licence to steal and get a larger piece of buyers money if the selling price is
lower.or it is not sold.Their description of article is limited with no indication of producer, year
made or bought, price new, material used, and condition.
So would I use them again. NEVER! would I recommend them.NEVER!
I estimate that I lost over $1000 on the goods I consigned them if they had got only 25% of the
original value of the pieces. But I got less than 4% of the original value. They got 82% of what I received. A usurious percentage!
I hope you can do something to prevent this "***" continuing.

Auction firms are often called upon to assist seniors in downsizing chattels as they move to smaller residences. Often the items being sold may not conform to present decorating styles, may not be collectible and might be worn and well used in many cases. The auction firm now enters into a working relationship with the seller to #1 - Sell the item and #2 - Maximize return. Advertising is placed, items exposed to a large Online buying market and bidding is brisk. Through the element of competition prices are set and items are sold As Is, Where Is with no guarantees or warranties.

In many cases it is an emotional time for sellers, moving, memories, change is tough. Sometimes unrealistic expectations cause disappointment later.

In this case we sold 9 lots for Mr. to a crowd of bidders of 373, they dictate the price. Mr. was made aware of the fee structure, read and signed a contract and was given a copy.

Respectfully Submitted,

John van Klaveren, VANKLAVEREN Auctions Inc.

In response, the goods I supplied were NOT worn or well used. The sofa and chair (both *** recliners) were only 8 years old. Oh and
I received $42 for these pieces which had cost over $1200. WOW 3 percent! Their advertising is woeful, incomplete and opaque.
The value received for the dining room set was not even equal to the cost if it had been chopped up for firewood. I question how much
was done to maximize my return as opposed their return.
I do not accept their excuses and will stick with my negative of this outfit!
