Van's Paving & Grading, Inc. Reviews (1)

Review: We called the company in July 2014 regarding the condition issues we are having with a driveway that was installed in early August 2013. It took them a week to get to us, when the owner came out to look he said the cracking we are having and the raveling is due to shrinkage. When we drive our cars on the driveway and turn (while moving) we destroy the surface of the asphalt. When you spend $20,000 for a driveway it should last more than 1 year. He offered us a discount to have his company come out and fix and seal it. We think it should be his responsibility to fix it as it is of poor quality. His bid was commensurate with the other bids we received and we choose him based on the attention he originally paid to us.Desired Settlement: We would like the cracks fixed and the driveway sealed to prevent further damage/erosion and to not be charged for the poor quality of the work.

Response:

This project was completed in August of 2013 to the high standards we pride ourselves on. I received a call from the customer regarding cracking and marking. She I walked the job and I seen some cracks, this is a common problem with asphalt especially is the soils common to our area. I told her that we would seal the cracks at no charge but that the driveway was past due to be seal coated and provided her with an estimate at a discounted price. The spots she was concerned about raveling was caused by tires turning very extreme in one position and I advised her to try to keep the vehicle moving while turning especially with new asphalt on hot days. We at Van's Paving & Grading Inc. work very hard to provide quality workmanship and happy customers. We would be happy to seal the driveway at our cost. Sincerely, [redacted]

Consumer

Response:

We am rejecting this response because: with less than one year of use there should be no cracking! The longer we have had this driveway the more damage we see from NORMAL use! The cracks in the driveway continue to worsen and we dispute that this was quality work--we have researched and can find no documentation anywhere that says we should expect the damage we are seeing. We are careful about how we drive on it and continue to see damage. You can currently turn your foot on the driveway and create raveling.

Response:

I have attached a copy of the letter I sent to [redacted]. I recently spoke to her and hope we have come to an agreement.

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to my concern, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

I contacted and accepted and was told I would hear in a couple of days. That was Tuesday(I think), this is Friday and have not heard back. Just called and left [redacted] a message I am awaiting their call. Timely I hope.
