I hired Mr*** *** of *** Home Improvement to repair my roof My building is located in South StLouis, MO near his company I asked that we sign a contract and he agreed to do so The contract was for $ He told me he was partners with a firm K&D Environmental of Fenton, MO and the owner, Mr*** ***, had the insurance and workman's compIt looked like a real contract, so I accepted it at face value We signed it and he agreed to do the work When he completed the work a few days later he returned and said he had more expenses than he thought he would and asked for an additional $for the work performed I told him I would pay him half now and half the next month I called my attorney after he left and asked her what I should have done, and she said, "Don't pay him anything else" I called Mr***'s cell phone and told him not to cash the check I gave him I called my bank but he had already gone there and cashed the check I then began looking into the contract closer The telephone number he gave for K&D Environmental was not their phone number nor was the fax numberI called the number and a different man answered the telephone Mr*** told me they he and his partner were a huge company The address for K&D Environmental was in a trailer park in a seedy part of townI did a google map to confirm the locationI did a search on the Secretary of State's website and the company does not have insurance, and the telephone numbers for him are disconnectedThe following month Mr***'s worker came into my office and threatened me with physical harm and damage to my buildingI called the police and they indicated Mr*** has been arrested several times for illegal acts His worker has been in jail, according to the policeMr***'s work was sub-par The roof leaks and the police have warned him to stay away from me since his worker threatened me with physical harmMr*** is a scam artist and a guy who tried to shake me down for additional money He should be in jail for what he did and does to other peopleNo one should use this man's company for roofing or repairs
