[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed Administratively Resolved] Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: As I stated numerous times this company has been lying and trying to take advantage of me and numerous consumers. Just look at their own website reviews. There are over 50 customers with the exact same complaint. As to Jamie E [redacted] she does not have anything to do with my $275 deposit. She also deposited $150 for the dinner reservations which they ripped her off too and did not return her refund either. Please stop trying to back pedal your way out of this. Your company is completely responsible for returning my deposit back because like I said before I booked this party for $40 per person for 2 hours and they changed the price on me 3 days prior and told me personally on the phone to come get my deposit because you didn't care if you raised the price and I will quote "you don't need my money you have enough business already " . So of course I canceled , I followed your dierections , unfortunately. Please don't start making me out to be the bad guy when all I wanted to do was to celebrate my daughters 30th birthday at your place of business with dinner and drinks to follow . You are a complete disgrace to assume that I am grasping just trying to get my deposit back when it was your fault that you not only took my money my friends money and you completely screwed up a very special occasion I was having for my daughter 30th. I am a very busy mom lady and business women who has no time to be making frivolous complaints for no reason at all. Please stop all this waisted time and do the right thing! Regards, [redacted]

October 6, 2014Dear *** ***,
We are writing in response to the complaint about our business that was submitted on 9/25/with an ID of ***Firstly, thank you for taking the time to consider our responseThe customer placed a deposit for a reservation on our
website in the amount of $This deposit was for a planned event that would be priced based on the number of guests, specifically the price was $per person plus tax and gratuityThis event was to be held on June 28, 2014.They claim that Robin never informed them of the additional tax and gratuity fees that are always standard with any reservation, and that we requested the money for the event up front, before the date of June 28, Both of these claims are false, Robin informs all of our clients that any event will be billed with tax and gratuity, and also that they will be responsible for collecting the fees from their guests and the total bill will be paid on the day of the eventUpon learning of the cancellation of the event via email, we reached out to a member of the party and we tried to come to an agreement, taking off the tax and gratuity as she claimed that she was told, and we clearly stated that they would need to collect fees from their guests and pay for the event anytime before 9:PM on June 28, We also informed them that all of our menu options were available online and to please contact us with any further questions or concerns- we were not contacted by them againWe had already booked and reserved the rooftop for the customer's event, and because of the last minute cancellation and refusal of our mediation, we lost businessWe had already booked the staff, the space, and we had turned down all of the requests from other customers and events for the space for that time and dateOur Terms and Conditions listed on our website clearly state that all deposits are final, and if there are any cancellations or no shows the deposit will not be refundedIn this customer's case we had tried mediate with the party in order to find an accommodating solution, but they still chose to cancel the event, in a last-minute cancellation which caused our establishment financial loss. Please contact us further with any questionsThank you for your consideration,Diaa S, Owner and Manager

June 25, Dear *** ***,Thank you for reaching out to us concerning this issueThis particular customer had a reservation with us, for seating on our rooftop loungeThe customer arrived and apparently the outdoor setting area was full due to the *** *** ***
weekly event. He had placed a deposit for this reservation on our website via ***There seems to have been some miscommunication between the staff and this guests to how this reservation was to be handledIn reference to trying to talk with the manager, it is possible and probable that at times he was unavailable to directly deal with this issueWe value our customers and in that regard we sincerely apologize for any misunderstandingWe have refunded his deposit of $back to his credit card via ***The customer should have received this already as it was done a week agoIf there is anything further, please contact us.Thank you for your time,Vango Lounge and Skybar

 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
I have read Vango’s response to my complaint and almost everything in their statement is completely untrue. There was never a conversation with Robin or anyone else about an additional fee for tax & gratuity. When making the reservation , I was simply told that it would be a flat rate of $40 per person and I could hold my spot with the $275 deposit. If I knew right away that there was an additional fee for tax and gratuity , why would I tell my guests that it will be $40 per person at the door when sending out the invitations ? I would of stated in the invitations that it was $52 per person. I have already included the [redacted] invitation in my complaint showing this. The only reason why I agreed to reserve with this place was because I was assured by Robin that all we needed was $40 per person and each individual would pay at the door. I never had any conversation with anyone else other than Robin until I was contacted by David 3 days prior to the party. Robin continued to tell us with each conversation we had prior to the party that everyone will pay a flat fee of $40.00 at the door which would include 2 hours of open bar. There were plenty of conversations with Robin prior to the event for her to mention the extra fees for tax and gratuity. However , this was never mentioned by her.
The statement in their response that I was contacted to come to a resolution is a flat out lie. They never reached out to me to come to an agreement. If we were offered to have the event without the taxes and gratuity fees as he stated in his response , we would of agreed to that in an instant as this was the original agreement. Since all of the invitations were already sent out and it was 3 days until the event , that resolution would of been welcomed and we would not be where we are right now. However , this was never offered. We were told by David and I quote "We don’t care about your business as we have plenty of it and that we could have our deposit back. When we called to receive our despot back , he reneged on his promise and said that a deposit would not be given. As for his statement regarding menu options and us having to contact them back regarding them, this does not make any sense as the event only included a 2 hour open bar with no food included. This is just another statement that he has made up out of thin air. The event was only cancelled because they drastically changed the original agreement by adding on 30%. Their failure to mention these additional fees is their fault. Therefore , the cancellation was due to their actions , not mine.
On top of all of this , David was very unprofessional , arrogant , and rude when speaking to me. In my previous complaint , I attached all of the negative reviews that this establishment receives. The only positive reviews are from people who are anonymous , which leads me to believe that these are done by employees. This seems to be a common practice for them after reading these reviews and complaints and should not be tolerated.
Thank you for your time and assistance.
Best Regards,

July 27th 20 dollars for entry into the club then attempt to muscle another 5 to bucks stating that the rooftop is only accessible of u have a drink, and water doesn't count. You didn't say 20 bucks for first floor access. Thus this was not as advertised. I would like my 20 bucks back. This was only a stop to see friends in the area while DNC was happening

Dear [redacted],
We are responding again in writing in response to the complaint about our business that was submitted on 9/25/2014 with an ID of [redacted].
We stand by our earlier letter and statement in regards to this event. Standard practice in the restaurant/lounge arena is to be as accommodating as reasonably possible with clients and to be flexible with needs and desires as each client has specific needs. We have a standard policy when it comes to booking events here at Vango Lounge. The client can call or email us to induire and/or coordinate pricing and menu selections, the need for audio visual equipment etc. Once we come to an understanding as to time, date, # of attendees and type of event (i.e. bottle service, open bar, catered snacks etc), the client is required to place a deposit to ensure attendance which usually is 1/2 of the total expected bill. We always inform the client that a 10% tax is required by city code and a 20% gratuity is added. We are always Open to negotiation as to pricing and do our best to come to a mutually agreeable arrangement. The pricing structure quoted in this particular case was $40 per person for a two-hour open bar plus tax and gratuity. We do not collect funds from guests of privately hosted parties on behalf of that host. The host who books the party is responsible for paying us the full amount prior to the start of the event and then it is up to that person to recoup those funds from their invitees. We were notified of cancellation of the event due to cause of the "tax and gratuity" issue and we contacted one of the organizers with the attached and dated email telling them we would "eat" the cost of the tax and gratuity in the hopes that this issue would allow them to continue to to have a successful event. The tax and gratuity would still be paid but would have to be paid by lowering our potential profit margin on the event.
In this subsequent email we stressed that this would occur with a MINIMUM OF 30 PEOPLE.
We believe we did everything we could do as a responsible establishment to assist this particular party. Therefore, we respectfully request that this matter to be resolved in our favor with the sacrifice of the deposit placed thru our website with terms and conditions clearly displayed at the time of booking. Those terms are attached as a exhibit along with a copy of the email sent out verifying our attempt at mediation prior to the event date. Please contact us further with any questions.
Thank you for your consideration,Diaa S

Dear [redacted],
Thank you for reaching out to us concerning this issue. We have an interested concern whenever a customer raises an issue with our establishment.
We have reviewed the complaint filed by [redacted]. We find rather particular and believe...

it to be a frivolous attempt at getting a refund with no truth to his claims. In fact, it seems like he is grasping at complaints that would jeopardize the reputation of our establishment with the intent of forcing us to meet his demands.
He opens the complaints saying Rats and Mice in a business. But he doesn't tell the manager of this or complain about this, simply that he saw roaches on the floor of the kitchen and saw smoking in the restaurant.
Given the physical structure of our establishment, there is no way this individual could even see into the kitchen area to observe anything. The kitchen doors are solid and even if they were wide open, all you would see four feet in front of that opening would be a steel fire exit stairwell door. The only way this individual could observe anything on the kitchen floor would be for him to actually BE IN THE KITCHEN ITSELFs. This was not the case.
Our establishment is regularly inspected by the Health Department of the City of Philadelphia and the results of these inspections are readily available to the general public for viewing online.
If in fact we were to experience ANY issues as to mice, rats, roaches or any other prohibitive health issues, we would immediately and proactively take needed measures to rectify this. We maintain high standards in our kitchen area. We are required to additionally file and maintain a HAACP plan for food handling with the City Dept. of Health.Smoking is permitted on the exterior rooftop portion of our facility in designated areas. The floor of this area is lined with tile and smoking cans are provided. At any time if a customer is uncomfortable with anyone smoking near them, we address the situation immediately. Once again, smoking is only allowed in the exterior portion of our open air roof deck. Never on the main floor or any enclosed portion of our facility.
This individual is asking for a refund of $20 in a total bill of $45.37. Why is this if he was so outraged as the scenario he describes. It makes no sense to us.
We value our customers and in that regard, if we deemed this a legitimate complaint we would have gladly refunded his money. We sincerely apologize for any misunderstanding in this matter.
If there is anything further, please contact us.
Thank you for your time,
Vango Lounge and Skybar.

April 25, 2017Dear [redacted]:In response to your second letter of April 16, 2017 in reference to a complaint from "[redacted]" in regards to payment for services provided.Complainant states that she "left" $100 in cash on the table in payment for the outstanding tab for services she received. She...

said she forgot to get her Debit Card and I.D.She contacted us and came to the venue to obtain her cards and was informed that she had an outstanding bill which needed to be settled prior to the surrender of the cards, per our policy. She told the Manager that she paid with $100 the manager trying to find a resolution and return the cards, informed Complainant that the venue had internal video surveillance and invited the Complainant to come inside and review the tape of the evening in question to verify the statement that she left $100 on the table. She proceeded to curse the Manager and left, without furthering the investigative process. We have established procedure for closing each open tab every evening to reconcile our records. The waitress involved in the transaction informed the manager, that evening, the the Guest had left without settling her bill. A statement from the waitress is attached. We investigated this transaction and feel confident that the bill was not paid properly. If, in fact, the Guest, [redacted], left any money on the table, it was not received or processed by any member of our staff.Sincerely yours,Diaa S[redacted], Manager
