This company failed to provide the complete moving package.
Specifically they never provided a Bill of Lading as required by law.
After repeated emails they basically told that they were not responsible for all of the damage that occurred during our move.

We have already explained several times to this shipper, via emails and phone calls, we are not responsible for the damages he claims have occurred to his household goods. Our company is a Household Goods Moving Broker and we do not participate at any moment or for any reason to the physical part of a household goods move. Our role is to find good carriers that can carry out the move itself. For this reason, as already suggested to this shipper, the complaint should be done to the moving company that physically carried out the move of this shipper household goods. They physically moved the household goods so if any damages have been done is the moving company responsibility to address the issue. For the Bill of Lading issue, as stated before, we are HHG moving brokers and by law we cannot and we do not, issue Bill of Lading. By law the Bill of lading is issued by a moving company, but also is the shipper responsibility to ask for it, as well explained in the pamphlet: "Your Rights and Responsibilities When you Move" that has been given together with other FMCSA pamphlets, to the shipper when the estimate for his move was done.We cannot be held responsible for any damage to the shipper’s household goods and we cannot be held responsible if a Bill of lading has not been provided by the moving company that moved this shipper household goods. We have tried to act as mediator between the shipper and the moving company without being able to get to any resolution of this issue and we have provided all the necessary information to shipper, carrier and carrier’s insurance representative.

We are really sorry but the shipper needs to file a complaint with the moving company that performed the actual move and file a claim directly with them or with the moving company’s insurance

We contracted this company to move our furniture. They broke the legs of an antique sideboard, then tried to cover up the damage by gluing one leg (without clamping it) hoping that we would not notice it. It made the damage worse and it is now very expensive to fix as that whole leg needs to be replaced. They are only offering the basic coverage of 0.60 cents per pound. However, their attempts to cover up the damage now makes it very expensive to repair, something that would have not have been the case if they had not tried to hide it. Originally it would cost $275 to fix, but now will cost $775 (per the furniture repair appraiser that the company sent out, so apparently they originally felt that they were responsible for repairing it)

Date: Thu, May 10, 2018 at 3:31 PMSubject: ***'s complainTo: ***@myRevdex.com.orgDear ***,We are really sorry to hear that *** filed a complain with the Revdex.com against our company. We moved *** in December 2017 and during the loading/unloading process some items ( a desk, a china cabinet and a dining chair) got damaged. Unfortunately, *** did not select a Full Value Protection for her move but she chose the Released Value option (a basic coverage). Under the Released Value, the mover assumes liability for no more than 60 cents per pound per article. Based on the weight of each damaged article( cubic feet are stated on the Shipper's Inventory that she signed and accepted), we offered *** a monetary settlement in the amount of $222.60, that she accepted. Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because: The issue is not the initial damage that they did during the move - it is that before delivering the furniture, they made it worse by trying to cover it up by improperly gluing the leg making it worse. I have attached the emails/assessment from the furniture restorer that the company sent out as well as the photos of the damage taken by the furniture restorer. Again, they sent out the furniture restorer to give them an estimate, which implies that they know that they are liable for the additional damage done by trying to cover up the initial damage. While they may not have been liable for the initial damage outside of the .60 per pound, their actions in trying to hide the damage made it worse and more expensive and they should have to pay to correct that as it will now be $795 as opposed to $225 had they not tried to cover it up and fix it themselves without permission.
Regards
