Mrand Mrs***,It has taken me a great deal of time to respond for a couple of reasons, not the least of which was removing my anger from the equationAnother part of the delay is dreading what will surely come next - I expect a knee jerk response so know in advance that I will have to follow up by taking this matter to courtIt should not have come to this, but obviously has.I want to address the issue of the tile work in the master bathroom firstThere is no question in my mind that it should be corrected and it is my responsibilityThe method of correction and the cost are the only variablesIt will obviously be completed by others not of my choosing. There is an easy solution for the laminate floor, so that should not take up much space here. Now to the heart of the problem -- you owe me money for work you asked me to completeYou continued to modify the scope of work throughout the project and I kept a running list, which was provided to you on a regular basisThe last list was furnished before your trip to the Midwest and included a note requesting that you review the list so we could discuss it upon your return.Whether you did so or not, you did not object with it.For clarity, I am providing that list with the adjustments from your July 30, and other modifications you requested or I did not completeEither way, the amount owed is significantly more than the amount the bathroom tile work will cost, so it is my hope that we will be able to negotiate a final settlement and move forward. As background, since this will be sent to the [redacted] *** and Revdex.com, here are some beginning circumstances:You began the project by showing me some bathroom photos (copies of which are included here) and a cabinet designerThat designer provided basic sketches with no detailsWe priced the cabinetry accordinglyThere was only basic shelving, no indication of roll outs, full extension drawer guides or upgraded cabinet doors or drawersThen, when the designer became a no show, you provided cabinet photos from [redacted] and we finalized the designIt was at this point that roll outs, the island and upgrade cabinet doors and drawer fronts became part of the discussionAt the time you specifically asked if the kitchen portion of the work would cost anywhere near $50,and l assured you that it would notWith that you moved forward with your selection of cabinet door styles, island design (there was no island in the original estimate), roll out shelving and under cabinet lighting choicesThe upgrades to the cabinet design, once they could be identified accurately, were added to the cost of the projectExisting upstairs hall cabinetry was to only receive new, basic cabinet doorsThe final result was new, upgraded cabinet doors to match the kitchen and painting of both the cabinets and the doorsThe design selected for the master bath cabinets could not be duplicated since it was for a much larger roomWe agreed to use the theme to build something similar that would fit the space availableThe entire design was clearly not basic cabinetry, so became one of the modifications. The master closet was to have shelf and pole on each sideLater, shelving units were requested, a [redacted] unit was selected (were needed), and you were to provide those for us to installYou could not find them, so we did, purchased them, assembled them, then installed themYou must pay for those changes as wellYou insisted that we stop what we were doing (in the middle of the summer) and deal with the family room fireplace, again, which was not part of the original projectI ended upermediary with the fireplace installation company, the plumber for the gas line, plus completing the work requested, spending many hours in useless discussionswith the fireplace installerOne of you wanted it delayed until the end, one insisted that it be done immediately, making our position uncomfortableIt was completed as requested, causing significant delay to other parts of the project for which you would blame us laterThe same can be said for the work around the exterior shelf at the kitchen windowYou decided to work on that (needing our help for part of it) when that too could have waited and was in our work area, causing us to work around youAnother instant request - at a time you were demanding that we hurry and complete the project – was the addition of electrical outlets in the garageAgain, this became a point of argument and we were asked to stop prior to completion with wire and conduit left half installedAfter all the under-cabinet wiring was completed, behind the drywall, and after half the cabinets were installed, you insisted upon adding under cabinet light under a cabinet on the far side of the range requiring wiring behind drywall, more lights and a modification by the cabinet maker for those lightsYou were to furnish all light fixturesIt fell to us to purchase the under-cabinet lights so they could be installedYou owe for the differencesCabinet handles, light fixtures were late in being furnished causing work to flow out of orderYou chose stain colors, accepted the samples, then changed your mind again, causing delay and costOn more than one occasion, you requested stained, but unfinished wood work, most notably the stair handrailThough we tried to persuade you to change your mind, you insisted on that finish, and, only when you saw it did you finally ask that it be finished correctly. We never missed a day of work, took on another project during yours and were responsive to each of your requestsYou have neglected to mention or give time credit for the numerous correction we made in a very poorly constructed, out of level buildingA number of those repairswere made as a courtesy to you, the customer, "since we were working in the area." The entire building should have leaked, no windows or siding were flashed or completed correctly originally, leaving it to us to solve those problems for you as we did our workYou will notice that there have been no charges for these efforts, and, clearly, no credit for solving the problem from your perspective.Attached is the breakdown portion of this responseI am only furnishing copies of the photos and designer bathroom plan to the License Board and Revdex.com since you have the originals.Again, we accept any and all responsibilities for our work, but must insist that the final solution to the overall project include both your payment of our outstanding bill and our payment for the tilework that must be correctedThere cannot be one without the other

Vantage Point Builders has never shirked its responsibility to complete projects or warranty work. The customer is well aware of that as we have done complicated work for them in the past.We remain committed to finding and completing the appropriate solution to the issues presented, however, neither the process or the final resolution should be a public matter. When the actual resolution is in place, Vantage Point Builders will be sure to inform the Revdex.com. In the meantime, the process is ongoing and will continue until a resolution is found

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by Vantage Point Builders in reference to complaint ID 12586345, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
The attachment shows our formal response that was sent to Vantage Point Builders and a copy which was provided to the Revdex.com. Our complaint remains unresolved. Vantage Point Builders installed Tile work in our master bathroom which is defective and needs to be replaced by a licensed tile contractor, Vantage Point Builders represented that they had the skill set to act as a licensed tile contractor, clearly they do not possess that skill set and are not licensed tile contractors. Vantage Point Builders states that the tile needs to be replaced however in their response they state first we need to pay them an additional $9,000 for charges that are being made made up after the project ended 7 months ago (August 2017). We do not agree to any additional charges made after the project ended in August 2017. Vantage Point Builders is not willing to honor the warranty for defective work they installed in our home. We do agee with the response made to the Revdex.com by Vantage Point Builders, the complaint has not been resolved.

up by taking this matter to court. It should not have come to this, but obviously has.I want to address the issue of the tile work in the master bathroom first. There is no question in my mind that it should be corrected and it is my responsibility. The method of correction and the cost are the only variables. It will obviously be completed by others not of my choosing. There is an easy solution for the laminate floor, so that should not take up much space here. Now to the heart of the problem -- you owe me money for work you asked me to complete. You continued to modify the scope of work throughout the project and I kept a running list, which was provided to you on a regular basis. The last list was furnished before your trip to the Midwest and included a note requesting that you review the list so we could discuss it upon your return.Whether you did so or not, you did not object with it.For clarity, I am providing that list with the adjustments from your July 30, 2017 and other modifications you requested or I did not complete. Either way, the amount owed is significantly more than the amount the bathroom tile work will cost, so it is my hope that we will be able to negotiate a final settlement and move forward. As background, since this will be sent to the [redacted] and Revdex.com, here are some beginning circumstances:You began the project by showing me some bathroom photos (copies of which are included here) and a cabinet designer. That designer provided basic sketches with no details. We priced the cabinetry accordingly. There was only basic shelving, no indication of roll outs, full extension drawer guides or upgraded cabinet doors or drawers. Then, when the designer became a no show, you provided cabinet photos from [redacted] and we finalized the design. It was at this point that roll outs, the island and upgrade cabinet doors and drawer fronts became part of the discussion. At the time you specifically asked if the kitchen portion of the work would cost anywhere near $50,000 and l assured you that it would not. With that you moved forward with your selection of cabinet door styles, island design (there was no island in the original estimate), roll out shelving and under cabinet lighting choices. The upgrades to the cabinet design, once they could be identified accurately, were added to the cost of the project. Existing upstairs hall cabinetry was to only receive new, basic cabinet doors. The final result was new, upgraded cabinet doors to match the kitchen and painting of both the cabinets and the doors. The design selected for the master bath cabinets could not be duplicated since it was for a much larger room. We agreed to use the theme to build something similar that would fit the space available. The entire design was clearly not basic cabinetry, so became one of the modifications. The master closet was to have shelf and pole on each side. Later, shelving units were requested, a [redacted] unit was selected (4 were needed), and you were to provide those for us to install. You could not find them, so we did, purchased them, assembled them, then installed them. You must pay for those changes as well. You insisted that we stop what we were doing (in the middle of the summer) and deal with the family room fireplace, again, which was not part of the original project. I ended upermediary with the fireplace installation company, the plumber for the gas line, plus completing the work requested, spending many hours in useless discussionswith the fireplace installer. One of you wanted it delayed until the end, one insisted that it be done immediately, making our position uncomfortable. It was completed as requested, causing significant delay to other parts of the project for which you would blame us later. The same can be said for the work around the exterior shelf at the kitchen window. You decided to work on that (needing our help for part of it) when that too could have waited and was in our work area, causing us to work around you. Another instant request - at a time you were demanding that we hurry and complete the project – was the addition of electrical outlets in the garage. Again, this became a point of argument and we were asked to stop prior to completion with wire and conduit left half installed. After all the under-cabinet wiring was completed, behind the drywall, and after half the cabinets were installed, you insisted upon adding under cabinet light under a cabinet on the far side of the range requiring wiring behind drywall, more lights and a modification by the cabinet maker for those lights. You were to furnish all light fixtures. It fell to us to purchase the under-cabinet lights so they could be installed. You owe for the differences. Cabinet handles, light fixtures were late in being furnished causing work to flow out of order. You chose stain colors, accepted the samples, then changed your mind again, causing delay and cost. On more than one occasion, you requested stained, but unfinished wood work, most notably the stair handrail. Though we tried to persuade you to change your mind, you insisted on that finish, and, only when you saw it did you finally ask that it be finished correctly. We never missed a day of work, took on another project during yours and were responsive to each of your requests. You have neglected to mention or give time credit for the numerous correction we made in a very poorly constructed, out of level building.
