Review: I purchased a mobile home (double wide) from them in October 2015. They told me it would take 4-6 weeks for setup. They called second week of October said they wanted to get it done as soon as possible. We rented a storage unit for our belongings. They agreed to do the footers, etc for the setup. The home failed inspection multiple times. When I called up to speak with them regarding my dissatisfaction, I was upset, and the owner Jerry Farmer advised me that if I got "excited" it would bite me. My grandfather also went up to Variety Homes to discuss with them the issues going on, and the fact that the home was still not completed but end of November 2015. He was cussed by Mr. Farmer, my husband called and spoke with [redacted] at Variety Homes and told him he was getting ticked with all the issues and failings of the inspection and he was told he was going to have to get ticked. They have lied numerous times since the beginning of this process regarding the setup, insulation, heat pump, move in date, etc.The home was sold with a heat pump. When the power was turned on the heat pump did not work. When we contacted Variety about this issues on December 21, 2015 they told us it was up to us to fix. We were told that if the heat was switched to a certain setting it would catch fire. They never once told us at purchase there could be issues with this heat pump, however now they are stating that they did. It is December 21 2015 and we are still not in our home and are paying for a storage unit for our belongings.Desired Settlement: I would like reimbursement for the storage unti ($400.00), I would like a new heat pump since the one they sold us that was supposed to work does not. I think they should refund a portion of the cost since they lied to us, cheated us, and tried to set us up in a faulty home.

This letter is in response to the complaint ID [redacted] for Variety Mobile Home Services.On approximately 10/06/15, the above customer purchased a mobile home from Variety. As of the date of closing they were told delivery date would be 4-6 weeks barring the weather. In November it rained twelve days with at least two days to dry out. Therefore, it was a month before their mobile home was delivered. Home was set and delivered before 12/04/15.A copy of Sales Agreement is attached to show home was SOLD AS IS and there is no warranty on Heat Pump or appliances for any used homes.We have been in business since the 1980's and have never sold a home with a warranty.If you need any further assistance, please feel free to call.Sincerely,Jerry FarmerVariety Mobile Home Services, Inc.

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

The home was not set by 12/4/15. We were unable to even move into the home until after Christmas because it had not passed inspection. They did not even finish the trim out work on the inside of the home, or put a porch up to enter the home. They left a stack of cinder blocks outside my door.
