The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) prevents us from commenting or sharing medical information including modality and nature of treatment. In general, the frequency of dental recare and periodontal maintenance (such as prophylactic dental cleanings) is based upon specific periodontal diagnosis. Some conditions warrant office visits every six months, some every four or three months. Dental benefits providers may vary the amount of coverage they provide based on the contract they have with the patient; they may or may not take the periodontal diagnosis or recommended guidelines into account. At Varinos Dental Associates of Watertown, we make therapeutic recommendations based upon diagnosis, not upon dental benefits plans.

In my original post, I forgot to mention that I was writing on behalf of my wife *** *** and was not able to edit after I submit.However, it does not change the matter of the complaint and I'm pretty sure business knew the correct first name anyway.In general, if a business charges a customer an [arbitrary] amount previously not agreed upon, that is not a good signAnd if that happens in the situation when a customer expects having a free service and business doesn't warn about future charge is not only alarming business practice but borderline with deception.It is easy to say that customer is responsible for checking with his/her insurance, but in that case, tell that up front and don't pretend that you take care of dealing with insurance process and never say what coverage to expect from insuranceOr if you do, do it all the way in every case and if something you know will not be free of charge, must tell that right away.I do not accept this answer from business and consider the issue completely unresolved.Regards,
