Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # [redacted].
I am responding to the last letter from Varino's. The first claim in that letter that I never spoke to [redacted] is false. I spoke to [redacted] and other staff members several times regarding scheduling my appointment , during my appointment and leaving the appointment. As I stated in a previous response, I had been seen at Varino's several years ago. When I called to get a consultation regarding the present issue I was having with tooth pain, the staff member I spoke to informed me that they were going to set this consultation up as free because I haven't been there in some time and it was like I was a new patient. There was no conversation prior to my appointment about x-rays or films that might be needed. I was under the valid notion that this was a free consultation. The second claim in that response states that this dentist office assumes I regarded them as a free clinic. That is also false. I made an appointment with a staff member and they said it was a free consultation. I spoke to the dental assistant and she then informed me that they needed x-rays. When finished, I spoke very briefly with the dentist regarding care. I left the dentist chair and spoke at great length with a financial consultant in the office regarding the cost of all procedures that needed to be done for my teeth. Then I left. At no time did any staff member tell me about cost for that appointment. I think it is valid to assume that anyone in my shoes would have thought that a free consultation is a free consultation if there is no mention of cost. I received a letter from this office informing me that they will no longer see me as a patient. I would not go back anyways. The staff are liars. I did speak with [redacted] and other staff members as well. I am not paying this balance. It is unfair to charge someone after the fact when it was understood that this visit was free. Had I known the cost of the x-rays and films, I would have left and not waited to be dismissed.

I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # [redacted]. .This appointment was a consultation only. I was having incredible pain in one of my wisdom teeth. I scheduled the appointment with the receptionist, [redacted]. She did inform me it was going to be a free consultation. There was no talk about x-rays. I was led to believe that this free consultation was to assess the next step in relieving the pain caused by my tooth. The invoice that was sent to me, stated a free consultation and then added the cost of the x-rays and films. I still do not intend to pay this amount. The office did not properly inform me of any additional costs for this free consultation.

This patient received the free new patient  special 8/1/2012. The special includes free xrays & exams. It is a 1 time special as can only be a new patient once. These services in 2016 were not free of charge and nobody in the office or on the phone told her they would be free. per her...

signature on our paperwork she was aware that charges not covered by insurance are patient responsibility.

This letter is in response to complaint #[redacted]. it looks like the patient submitted additional comments after the office response was sent in. I have spoken with [redacted] (whom the patient claims she spoke with) and she never even spoke with the patient prior to her appointment. Our scheduling coordinator, [redacted] was actually the one who spoke with the patient prior to her appointment. Our scheduling coordinator, [redacted], was actually the one who spoke with the patient and booked the appt. I have spoken with [redacted] and she stated she never told the patient the visit would be free. The consultation it self was free however, the entire visit was not. Normally , there is a charge of 85.00 for an exam (consult), which we did not charge the patient. However, the x rays were not free and that is what the patient received a bill for. If a patient is coming back to our office after 4 years of not seeing a dentist and complaining of tooth pain, it is not only common sense that we would need to take updated x rays to see what is going on and causing pain. It is required patients have x rays at least once a year because most issues take place underneath the tooth structure. we are not able to see most decay and definitely are not able to see the root and nerve damage with out x-rays. Had the patient asked the cost of the x-rays and then stated she did not want to take them, [redacted] would have dismissed her from the office for treatment that moment. We cannot properly do our job and care for our patients without being able to see what is really going on. It is like going to the hospital with a broken arm and not wanting xrays. How are the professional suppose to help. I am not sure why [redacted] would assume she would be receiving free x rays since we are not a free clinic, especially after reviewing and signing our policies. There are often situations when a patient will ask the assistant how much the x ray costs once they are told they are taking them. The patient was seen on 10/4 and was seen on 10/5- we did our very best to accommodate this patient and address her pain. Furthermore, I have already sent in the packet signed by the patient consenting to our financial policy. We will not be writing this balance off. If the patient would like to work out a monthly payment plan I am happy to help her with that, however , the balance remains the same.
