Vehicle Repair Center of Western Mass Reviews (3)

I am so THANKFUL for finding this great business-Vehicle Repair Center ! This place has been so professional, especially Kimberly in the office, , so patient with as I was at the end of my rope with my car. Every other business had tossed me around-without helping me....This place has saved my future. Not only did their great staff work hard on my car, but the have towing, access to low rate rentals, and you can easily apply to see if you quality for a credit card towards fixing your vehicle. I had been so frustrated stranded time after time. I'm a single woman -alone, I'm a nursing assistant, and my car is needed . I now have HOPE, and this business has made a huge impact on my life. Thank You Sincerely, Michelle [redacted] Holyoke, MA.

Vehicle repair center failed to provide me with a written estimate. Mass Reg (CMR) sect 5.05(3). I called several times, but was not given any optionsI towed my vehicle to the vehicle repair center. They told me that it would cost $1600. I said I would use my insurance unless the cost would out weigh the cost of paying cash. The cost of insurance deductible, and the increase of points, meant that the $1600 in cash would be a better option. I called the vehicle repair center 3 times trying to get updates. I was never given a written estimate of any indication that the cost would go up $400. If I knew this information I would have opted for the insurance. The vehicle repair took my options away and gave me an undue financial burden with out letting me shop for an alternative repair place to get a better price, and to use my insurance. I basically brought my vehicle into a repair shop and was work on with my consent for any money spent on the car.Desired SettlementI am using this bureau to avoid court proceedings.I am hoping my rights under this Massachusetts statue will help me protect my rights, so I can decide when and how my car is fixed.Business' Initial Response [redacted] call me from [redacted], she had hit a curb and they could not put the wheel back on due to the lower control arm being bent and broken. We towed in the vehicle and checked condition. We found extensive suspension damage including: Lower control arm bent and cracked, the subframe bent, the knuckle bent, strut bent and sway bar bent, all on the right front of vehicle. I then sugested to [redacted] she should call her insurance company and find out if she had collision coverage. If so she should go threw them and have and adjuster come see the car. I then called [redacted] and got a list of prices for the parts needed- the subframe was over $1000. I sugested to her we get a used subframe to try to save her money. The approximate cost would be $1600, Plus and alignment and taxes. She never asked for a written estamate, All Comunications and approvials were given over the phone. Including with her father who advised her not to use her insurance and to pay the bill out of pocket to avoid points on her licence. We also informed her her front brakes were very bad and should be replaced. She then told us to do the suspension work, but she would have the brake work done by a friend who owned a garage and could do it cheaper. The only update calls I recived from her after that was to see if the car was done yet. We worked late to get the suspension work completed to try to get the car back to her because she apparantly needed it right away... The knuckle from Toyota did not come complete with a bearing, also the lower control arm did not come complete with a lower ball joint. We had to get those parts from and aftermarket supplier to get the car finished for her for the next day. We DID NOT charger her the additional 2.4 hours labor to press in the bearing, or the additional .7 hours labor for the ball joint. If she had gone threw her insurance agent as I suggested, both parts and labor would have been coverd. So it really is her fathers poor recomendation that caused both her financial distress and our loss of labor income. Consumer's Final Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)Vehicle repair center admits that they didn't follow the mass reg (cmr) sect 5.05 (3), when they did not given me a written estimate. The statement about bad judgment is based on the centers misinformation on the cost of the repair. If I had known that the cost would be almost $2000, and labor over $700 then I might have made another decision. Business' Final Response [redacted] has always had the right to choose where her car is fixed, She called us and we towed the vehicle in for her at no cost. We checked the vehicle and explained the damage and recommended she call her insurance. She never stepped foot into the facility, until repairs were completed. She never asked for a written estimate, nor did she ask what our labor rate is. It is posted. Furthermore it was explained to her the cost would be "ABOUT $1600. Plus an alignment for $75. And that did not include taxes. That amount alone comes to $1744.89- The ONLY additional charges were for parts not included from Toyota- These include a wheel bearing $168.88 and a ball joint $50.60.... Her total bill came to $1964.37Her decision on where to have her vehicle fixed was and is always her decision. Just as it was her decision Not to have her brakes repaired here, and her decision not to use her insurance as We suggested. She called us and we provided the Best possible service, and we stand by that.Consumer Response Hi;Thank you for getting back to me.This is a perfect example why there is a law about getting a correct quote for a repair .This company told me my car is going to cost $1600. So I said yes. Then with out any communication the bill became almost $2000.The law says they must have a written quote signed by me to start the job, and if they feelit is going over that then they need to contact me.They never contacted me. They broke the law. It is not my responsibility to talk to them when they cant fix the car for $1600.I was taken advantage of and its not right. This company says its part of the Revdex.com so they know the rules and they broke them any way.Thank youBusiness Response I have attached the SIGNED copy of [redacted]'s repairs.
