Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2016/02/23) */
When Mr. [redacted] purchased the Land Rover in question, he had the opportunity to look it over many times and took the car for two test drives. He spent at least 2 hours in our office waiting for financing, during which time, he walked around...

the car, looking at it carefully, and presumably "kicked the tires." He also spoke knowledgeably about his trade-in and all of the things that he had done to it. He spoke knowledgably about the Land Rover that he purchased as well.
After he purchased the car, he complained that the thermostat was bad. We looked at it and found that it wasn't bad, but replaced it in good faith, no questions asked, hoping to please Mr. [redacted]. After the tire blew out, we would have helped him again but he chose to become hostile and threatened to sue us, so we ceased communication and awaited a law suit.
It is unfortunate that the relationship with Mr. [redacted] has deteriorated to this point. The car he purchased was a favorite of ours and we were sorry to hear that it did not work as well for him. He was understandably upset from a tire blow-out. It would have been terribly frightening and we are glad that he and his 9 year old daughter were safe. It is our general practice to ensure that all of the cars on our lot are in good working condition. This includes doing a pre-sale inspection of all elements of a vehicle, including tires.
We believe that Mr. [redacted] misunderstands the nature of tire sizing, and [redacted] has done nothing to help him understand, actually causing more damage in this case. Although Vera Auto Sales did not put the tires on the car, we checked to verify their sizing after receiving Mr. [redacted]'s complaint. Without getting too technical, the GVWR (pound limits for the vehicle) for the Land Rover is 7100 lbs. The tires on the vehicle at the time of the blow out (255/55R-18) are rated at 8700 lbs total. Those tires were therefore sufficient to carry the weight of the vehicle. The crack between the treads was likely due to severe weather conditions and age. Extreme heat and extreme cold can create this condition on older tires, whether or not they are driven on. Incidentally, if Mr. [redacted] looks at his own records, he will see that the tires he purchased new from [redacted] are also not the recommended size that he mistakenly believes is the only possible size. The new tires are 265/60R-18 instead of the recommended 255/60R-18. We take issue with [redacted]'s statement, but that won't help Mr. [redacted] at this time.
The tires likely needed to be replaced soon after the sale of the car. As such, we are willing to help Mr. [redacted] with his tire bill for the one that blew out, but in exchange will ask for him to amend the poor reviews he and his friends have written about us online. If he wishes, he can feel free to contact Vera and ask for the owner to talk about this further.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2016/02/23) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I do NOT accept Vera's response or resolution. Their information is incorrect and false. The two suggested sized for my vehicle are 265/55-18 or 245/75-18, however you can go up in profile OR down in width. The tires that were on the vehicle at time of purchase were the correct width, but did NOT have the correct profile to support the weight of my vehicle, which caused the cracks that lead to the blow out. I have statements from [redacted] and [redacted] to support this as well as detail pictures of the tires that were on the vehicle as well as what should have been on to keep the vehicle safe. The only resolve I'm willing to accept is for Vera to reimburse the $651.62 I paid to make my vehicle safe to drive. All four tires had the same stress cracks and needed to be replaced. It's Vera's responsibility to make sure vehicles that leave their lot are safe and mine was not. Attached are are a few images. The statement from [redacted]. The tire and size that was on the vehicle at time of purchase. [redacted]s system showing the sizes that are acceptable and proving the one at time of purchase was not. The tire that blew out with the crack and another tire on the vehicle that also had the cracks.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 10, 2016/03/01) */
Vera Auto Sales has nothing new to contribute nor do we wish to amend our earlier statement. We stand by the facts we have already outlined. It appears that we have come to an impasse. We will view this as a lesson learned that we can't please everyone and close our file in this matter.

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 10, 2015/10/06) */
Vera Auto Sales never offers a vehicle for sale with any known mechanical defect. Although Mr. [redacted] signed the "Buyers Guide" and knew the basic warranty did not kick in until he drove 1000 miles we acknowledge this is an unfortunate...

occurrence. Shortly after the breakdown Vera did a free oil change and engine flush to no avail.
As Mr. [redacted] stated he obtained a repair quote that nearly equaled the price of the car. At that time Vera obtained another quote substantially lower than his and Vera offered to split that cost with Mr. [redacted]. We felt this was a generous and fair way to solve the problem. But Mr. [redacted] refused the offer stating he did not want to put any more money into the vehicle.
This offer is still available.

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 12, 2015/10/12) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I am excepting offer as long as cost is split at least by half and the repair is substantially lower as they stated for exact repair needed.. (Which I have a copy of quote that included new parts NOT use)
Final Consumer Response /* (2000, 13, 2015/10/20) */
As Mr [redacted] indicates he accepts the dealership's offer (with some conditions, etc.), Revdex.com will be closing complaint at this time.
Mr [redacted] may contact Vera Auto Sales to make necessary arrangements, and discuss specific terms of dealership's participation in repairs.

Mr. [redacted] bought the 02 Subaru Impreza on 6/13/16 and signed an "as is" form where he understood there was no warranty on this car. Mr. [redacted] was given a copy of this form for his files. He then drove the Impreza back to Sioux Falls, SD. Approximately 1 month later he called to tell me the car was...

running a little hot and he was going to have it checked out. A week later he said the heads were shot and I needed to pay half the costs. After speaking with the owner of Vera, George [redacted], we decided that the vehicle was sold in good condition and we had no way to verify his complaint since the car was in another state. Although Mr. [redacted] threatened us with a barrage of negative media attacks I told him there was nothing we could do for him. Mr. [redacted] never indicated work had been done on the heads at 20000 miles or anytime during the life of that vehicle. We offered to print a CarFax for him but Mr. [redacted] never requested to see it at time of sale.    Jerry [redacted]
