Veridian Homes Reviews (2)

Review: My Veridian home is 4 yrs old. Earlier this year (April 2013) I noticed my siding on one side of my house is melting & I called Veridian right away. Veridian has given me phone numbers for the siding company, the installer, the fireplace company (in case it was related to my fireplace exhaust) and the window company (for my neighbor's window). I have spoken to the siding company, [redacted] & they think the melting is due to my neighbor's window (which Veridian also built the house next to me). Heartland offered to send me a 'one time' replacement of my siding on that one side of my house- but in a different color - since they no longer make my sawmill brown color. The sample they sent me is lighter then my current brown (so I'd have 2 different shades of brown on my house). I contacted Veridian again ([redacted]) and was told by Veridian stating that I should call the window manufacturer ([redacted]) to put in a claim about neighbor's window and they can't help me find my brown siding, since they don't keep siding on hand. I did put in a claim with [redacted] windows to somehow fix my neighbor's window, but have not heard from them. I did not build the house next door to me, Veridian did. I didn't pick the windows next door to me, Veridian did. Shouldn't they know that the windows they were using could possibly melt my siding??? I want Veridian to either find my brown siding or replace my entire house siding, I do not want 2 colors of siding. Everyone I have talked to about this has said they've never seen house siding melt like mine is (There is another Veridian home in my neighborhood with the same melting issue). Please help.Desired Settlement: I would like Veridian to stand behind their homes and get my siding replaced with the same color that I have (or if they don't have that brown, then re-side my entire house with a new color). They built all the homes in my neighborhood. I have made all the phone calls that they told me to make (the siding installer - who said it was not their issue; the siding manufacturer - who said it's Veridians problem because they built the house next to me too close & the windows Veridian put in my neighbor's home are melting my siding; the fireplace company - who inspected the fireplace & said it's not the fireplace; my insurance office - who inspected the siding and said it's a construction defect; and the window company - who has not answered my claims. Please help.

To Whom It May Concern:

This correspondence is in response to the customer review submitted to the Revdex.com of Wisconsin, dated July 8, 2013. The customer, who wrote the aforementioned complaint, had contacted us, Veridian Homes, on April 29, 2013 via an online service request submission. The initial request stated that some siding was buckling and/or coming off on one side of the home and that direction was needed with regard to the warranty. Veridian Homes provides a One Year Limited Warranty, and as the home was beyond that period, we provided the customer with the contact information for the siding manufacturer and supplier.

The homeowner reached out to the manufacturer and supplier with regard to her buckling siding. There was mixed information coming from each of the representatives with regard to the siding. The customer was told it could be the neighbor’s window reflecting onto her siding, her fireplace exhaust, the placement of her fence, etc. This prompted the customer to contact us to determine the root of the problem.

Our [redacted] inspected the siding after the customer contacted us again. Based on his inspection, we believe the sun is reflecting off a neighbor’s window which is causing distortion to the siding. We contacted the window manufacturer on behalf of the customer to determine the warranty claims process. They provided us with the information for claim submission, and we passed it along to the customer, as the manufacturer has required that the customer with the distorted siding to submit the claim. Since that time, Veridian Homes’ [redacted] and [redacted] have met with the customer at her home to discuss the status of the claim and to reiterate that Veridian Homes will help to resolve the problem. We continue to be in communications with the customer and will be until the situation is resolved.

For any additional clarification or questions, please contact: [redacted]

Sincerely,

Veridian Homes

[A default letter is provided here which indicates your acceptance of the business's response. If you wish, you may update it before sending it.]

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and after discussing my concerns with Veridian last week, they have reassured me that my siding problem will be resolved. I find that their resolution is satisfactory to me. Thank you.

We had pretty bad experience with Veridian
Here are the highlights:
Salesman
Did not know a lot of details, even simple details like the difference between tier 1 and tier 2 granite
the process was slow because he had to research almost every single item
did not communicate well and did not keep the promise, promised to deliver the contract on Friday and did not even bother to update us at the end of the day on Friday that he is not ready
used inappropriate language, "Veridian Homes does not reject offers like some sellers who may be insulted at such a low offer. “, this is business decision and not a marriage proposal
ignored some questions, I had to repeatedly ask for certain details like a back view of a Atwood with Cottage elevation
All drawings were based on wrong elevation, quotes were prepared based on Craftsman elevation but floor plans were based on Traditional
Salesman did not know that Atwood has 9’ ceilings on the 1st floor and almost quoted as an upgrade
Offer to Purchase was prepared with my wife’s name misspelled three times
Offer to Purchase did not contain the right amount, it contained $350k offer instead of $355k
All quotes were based on elevation that was not available for that lot because the same elevation was in close proximity already built
Other things would be obvious by applying common sense, like how can you ask if I want a patio with one step if back exposure is 3’3"
Veridian
Quoted house that was not even allowed on that particular lot
Did not have proper reviews in place to check basic requirements
Did not have checks in place for someone to review and proof read the offer
