In reference to the complaint from *** ***, We have done multiple major projects for the *** family We did a complete siding job that they were super happy with We did all their replacement windows which once again they were super happy and that is why they contracted us to do
the decks We had a new employee build the decks and as *** stated the railings were not done correctly Once it was brought to my attention we immediately tore them down and re-did them correctly Once deck was finished that employee was let go Yes, *** did give us the key to her home, which hundreds of customers have done over the past years of us being in business and we have never had an issue The employee who did the storm doors did leave the door unlocked and the house was broken into What *** did not mention is that Vermont Vinyl replaced every lock on the house at no cost to the customer What *** also did not mention is that they had less than $worth of items taken and Vermont Vinyl wrote them out a check for $to compensate them That employee was also let go We are very sorry that this happened but I believe Vermont Vinyl did more than any other company would have done to compensate them and make things right As for clean up the job was completely cleaned up when we left A job of this size will have a lot of debris and was fully cleaned upon completion We may have missed a screw or two in the cleanup I have personally been out to the job site many times since the decks were done and any pictures showing debris were taken during the construction of the decks and not after payment was received The complaints that *** has made have NEVER been an issue with the more than customer base we have In the end we let go both employees that worked on the deck, replaced all their locks and dead bolts, and wrote them out a check for $ Vermont Vinyl is well known for their quality workmanship and that is why we have won *** *** ** *** Best of the Best award years in a row

Tell us why heIn response to complaint [redacted], what [redacted] does not understand is that I, [redacted], have been foreman handling all field operations for Vermont Vinyl for the past 16 years, which not by coincidence, is when we started winning the [redacted] Best of the Best awards.  Also what she doesn’t mention is that I personally did her siding myself and installed all the windows myself and they were so happy they called me back about the deck.  As for hiring new employees all new hires are screened and referenced for previous work performed, at this point it seems like [redacted] is exaggerating as much as she can to make us look bad.  But we have a 3000 + customer base who beg to differ.  We strive to please everyone that is not always possible, but in this case it started off with a couple of screws being stripped and now its 3 pages of complaints all blown out of proportion.  As discussed with her husband, we could not get any companies to drop off a trash container so we piled the debris where he asked us to and removed it at end of job just like if there was a container, it would have been in the same spot until job was completed.   As for the storm door and the board under the deck, they were not contracted, they were added in as a favor to the customer for doing so much business with Vermont Vinyl.  The storm door was done and the board has not yet been replaced and will not be replaced due to the recent events that have transpired.  To future customers please don’t let these embellished criticisms sway you!  We have hundreds of testimonials from repeat customers, thus “Earning Customers for Life” re...

In reference to the response from VT Vinyl,
yes, it is true they have done other projects for us.  The first project that was done included
vinyl siding and windows.  This job was
initiated and contracted under the prior owners of the company.  We were very satisfied with the job and that
was the primary reason to contract again with VT Vinyl to replace 2 decks,
replace a storm door and a board under the sunporch. They state they had a new employee work on
the decks.  Apparently they don’t hire
experienced, reliable people and they don’t supervise new employees or check on
the work they are doing, they instead rely on the customer to point out what is
being done incorrectly.  VT Vinyl – as a company name – may have
received the [redacted] Best of the Best award for 14 years and
claim that in the past 50 years has not had an issue with customers providing
keys, but that statement is for the company name, not the current owners as
they have not owned the company for that length of time.  It is clear that the company we initially contracted
with for our initial job doesn’t have the same values or hire the same caliber
of personnel that the current company does.Yes, it is correct that VT Vinyl did
compensate us for the theft and did replace all the locks, however, that does
not compensate for the fact that it happened or why it happened.  Unsupervised employees with customer keys has
the potential to lead to problems.  Money
and locks don’t compensate for what happened.
If the weather had been colder, we could have had damage through the
entire home if the pipes had frozen and burst.
We were fortunate that it wasn’t that cold and that no one else had
entered the home.  Yes, VT Vinyl didn’t
have to compensate us for the theft or replace the locks, we did thank them for
that, however, it doesn’t negate the fact that it happened.   Also,
if the job had been supervised and done within a reasonable amount of time, as
promised, this would not have been an issue.
To restate, the job (the decks and storm door) took over 8 months and
was still never completed properly. To clarify, we contracted to have 3 jobs to
be done – (1) two decks, (2) storm door, and (3) replace board under sunroom.  For the first job, it was clear the employee
couldn’t handle this by himself and did a poor job – and was subsequently
terminated.  For the second job, where
the door was left unlocked and we had theft, that employee was terminated.  The pattern here is that VT Vinyl doesn’t
hire responsible independent people to work on jobs and sends them to customers’
homes with keys unsupervised and unattended. For the third job, this was never
completed. VT Vinyl claims the job was completely
cleaned up – that is not true.  Initially
when the job started, VT Vinyl stated that they were unable to get a dumpster
delivered, thus the old deck parts and new deck parts remained on the driveway
for weeks.  We had to contact them to
tell them the stuff needed to get off the driveway before the snow began to
fall and plowing was needed.  After the
winter, it was clear the job had not been cleaned up, there were several
railing slats left under the deck.  It
was not a screw or two that was left behind, it was large pieces of decking
material.  We have since disposed of
them.   To clarify, the pictures I referred to were
not of debris left behind, but instead of missing screws on the deck and screws
that were stripped and not fully in.  These
pictures were taken after the deck was claimed to be completed and after that employee
was let go.  Yes, [redacted] personally came out
to the job site.  And, [redacted] did see the
screws that were missing and those had not been fully screwed in.  [redacted] apologized for the incomplete job and
promised to rectify it.  He promised to
correct this, though he never did.  On
one occasion, he came to the house to say he couldn’t work on fixing the screw that
day, but would be back to finish the job; however, this never happened. Again,
we have corrected the problem ourselves.   In the response from VT Vinyl, there is no
rebuttal regarding not answering phone calls.
Repeat attempts to contact them with no response – is an unprofessional
way to run a business.  To promise to
complete things and never do so and to not return calls and to take over 8
months to do all items in this contracted job that should take less than a
month has led us to give up.  My only
intention here is to document why I do not recommend this company to other.
Since phone calls were not returned, we
gave up on and fixed the screws ourselves and know that the third item
contracted to be completed (board under the sunporch) and paid for already will
never be completed.  Even though VT Vinyl
was paid to complete three items and did not, we have no intention to pursue
getting the remainder of the things done.

In response to [redacted]’s most recent reply, I agree that the siding and window job done in years past by [redacted] was excellent.  That is the exact reason for us re-contracting to do the decks, etc.The contract for the decks was signed/agreed to in early September 2015 (05-Sep-2015), however work did not begin on the decks until late Oct/early Nov.  I do not know the exact date the decks were started as this home is not our primary residence.  On November 8, 2015, my husband and I went to our VT home to find that the decks had been started and were being built incorrectly.  Attached are the pictures of the initial construction of the deck. If [redacted] truly oversaw all construction, he would have immediately identified the initially errors in construction.  However, we contacted [redacted] by phone on November 8 and explained the situation.  [redacted] was surprised by what we said, he stated he was unaware of how the deck was being constructed.   I personally met with [redacted] on 28-Nov-2015.  I showed him the screws that were stripped, those that were missing, etc.  He verbally agreed to correct these items, thus I felt comfortable making the final installment/payment for the deck job.  Also on that date, a check was written to cover the cost of the storm door replacement and the board replacement under the sunroom.  Yes, I agree with [redacted] that the storm door and replacement of the board under the sunroom were not part of the initial contract.  However, these were not done as a favor, these were paid for and verbally agreed to be completed.  Additional advice to future customers - have a formal written agreement prior to payment as a verbal contract with payment is not sufficient.I agree that [redacted] did come out to the house several times.  What he does not mentioned is that those visits didn’t always involve work being done.  One visit was for payment and exchange of the house key.  During that visit he explained that he was unaware of how the decks were initially being constructed incorrectly. It should not be the homeowner taking pictures and alerting the contractor to errors.  [redacted] cannot say that these pictures were taken immediately after the work was done.  We are not permanent residents at the house thus days had lapsed between when the worker performed the construction and the pictures were taken.Between 28-November and 12-Dec, the storm door was replaced.  The storm door replacement was completed to satisfaction (with the exception of the house being left unsecured and resultant property theft).  The replacement board was purchased by [redacted] and remained on the property for months before being taken and never being returned or replaced.  The day [redacted] came to replace the locks on our home was the day the board was removed – again with verbal agreement that this portion of the work would be done when the weather was better and again with a verbal promise to fix the screws. We left several phone messages for [redacted] regarding the unfinished work.  I also followed up via e-mail on 19-Dec-2015.  I am not referring to one or two screws being stripped or missing, there were multiple. To [redacted]’s claim that the jobsite was fully cleared of debris, he is incorrect as he could not see all the debris left under the decks because by the time the job site was vacated, the stuff was covered with snow.In [redacted]’s response, he claims that employees are fully screened prior to employment, if that is true, then it seems unusual that two individuals working on our home are the only he’s had to let go and unusual that this happened only to us.    We were patient with [redacted] as he promised he would address the missing and stripped screws.  We tried to resolve the situation prior to contacting the Revdex.com, however, our calls were not returned and the work was not completed as promised.  I only wish to alert future customers to our misfortune and to be cautious about hiring VT Vinyl for their next home project. In response to the claims of exaggeration, this appears to be a difference of opinion.  I’ve provided facts and pictures supporting my side and take full responsibility for having paid for an incomplete job.I will again recommend and add to my prior response:I do not recommend VT Vinyl.  If you choose to go with VT Vinyl, I recommend withholding final payment until any contracted job is completed to satisfaction. Request an acceptable timeframe for the job to be completed and DO NOT give them a key and do not let them work on your property when you are not there. Do not accept verbal agreements; request them in writing as verbal promises made that were never kept. Each time, there was a different excuse as to why the job was taking longer or couldn’t get done. I agree that the remainder of the work will not get completed.  I’m truly disappointed we were not able to come to resolution on this.  As [redacted] indicates, he has no intention to come and finish the job.We take responsibility for having paid for the incomplete job and thus don’t expect anything further from VT Vinyl.  We have cleared the debris and replaced the stripped screws.  I will not recommend the company to others and for anyone contracting with them in the future, I can only advise to fully inspect and approve the finished job prior to final payment.
