Veterans Park Recreation Center Reviews (1)

Review: Dear whom may concern:Im very concerned with a specific Japanese class named Gurunpa which involved in many small children. I had a negative experience with this facility a while back, but I was hesitated to share my story when the incident happened at the time. Today, I have decided to email you because they were much more incidents, similar situations has occurred after what has happened to my son. There is a Japanese class in Chula Vista named Veterans Park Community Center, aka, Gurunpa. The class sessions are on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday for five hours in each day. The class consists from nearly thirty students in a three year old and four year old class in each room.I took my son there when he was two years old. The director of the class said, my son can attend to a four year old class. As I was encouraged by the class teacher, I took my son to the class for trial. It was my beyond apprehension why he had to attend a four year old class instead of a three year old class. I asked the director why my son was suitable for a four year old class and rational. The director of the facility couldnt respond to my question clearly, or more of obscure manner with poor explanation, and failed to provide me rational. The response was, I think he is OK. She said they were accepting from the age of three and she told me my son could join her class after she had seen him. There was one teacher and a volunteer mother who was helping the director in a classroom of thirty children. (The mother told me she got paid eight dollars an hour. ) While I was watching the class for the day and my two year old son was in the four year old class, he ran away from the classroom. Unexpectedly, the teacher and the volunteer didn't even notice him leave. I saw him go into another room and nobody was supervising him, so I for myself had to bring him back to the class he was assigned.I noticed there were so many people using the community center on Saturday. There are no boundaries between classrooms and to the public. I also observed poor supervision of children while using public bathroom that anyone can access. The director didn't wait with all the children at the bathroom and the mother couldn't watch both sides of bathrooms. There was a unlocked gate access to the outside towards E. Palomar St. near the bathroom. The facility had no supervision over the children and can wonder outside and get lost. After I had found out about the director and the mother not supervising the children, plus the unlocked gate, I decided I would no longer take my son to that community center. One of the mothers, who witnessed one of the incidents which involved her friend's son, was found at the intersection of Palomar Street in front of the community center alone by himself. His mom found him before something bad had happened, but this should not have happened. I was wondering why they are still accepting children even though this place is not safe for the children especially with the amount of toddlers they must watch. My question for the director is do they really have license to do a preschool or daycare at a community center? Please check this place for children.Thank you.Desired Settlement: Please send someone to fully inspect the facility to avoid further incidents. Thank you
