DrRobertson is the best! Great team Caring environment Empathetic Very patient and informative We were faced with a really sad reality, but because of DrRobertson, we knew what we were dealing with, and made the best quality of life choices we could

I put my dog Bambi in VETMED on the morning of Tuesday, October 4, 2016. She was admitted for diarrhea. She lost her ability to walk within 24 hours of arriving, and her health continued to decline over the course of the next 72 hours. On Thursday night, October 6, 2016, I spoke with Dr. Jennifer G[redacted], who was the internal medicine doctor looking over Bambi’s case. Bambi’s head had begun to shake like someone with Parkinson’s disease at that point. Dr. G[redacted] told me that she had no idea why Bambi’s head was shaking like that, and that it was beyond her ability to find out because it seemed like a neurological issue. Therefore, she got Bambi an appointment at a place called VETNEURO for Friday morning, October, 7, 2016. Upon arrival, the neurologist immediately told me that he believed Bambi had Metronidazole Toxicity just from looking at her, and once he read her records and seen that she was in fact on that drug while at VETMED, he was certain of it. Still, he did an MRI of her head and neck to rule out anything else. He also gave her a shot of Valium, which works as an antidote for the toxicity. Upon going back to VETMED and telling them of his diagnosis, everyone there quickly huddled up and started telling me that they all disagreed with his findings, even though they are the very ones that sent me to him and had me pay him $3,200 for his diagnosis. After speaking with the neurologist, I did some research on the drug that they had my dog on myself and found dozens of papers in the Journal of Veterinary Internal Medicine discussing the warnings of the drug. It turns out that VETMED should have never had my dog on that drug and her 14 years old with both a liver tumor and kidney disease in the first place. Once I finished reading up on the topic myself, I e-mailed both Dr. G[redacted] and one of her colleagues a copy of a research study I found that discussed how to use Valium as a way to speed up the recovery from the toxicity. Over the course of 72 hours, I discussed my concerns with Dr. G[redacted] and two of her colleagues, clearly outlining what I wanted done to try to speed up my dog’s recovery from the damage from the drug that they had her own. If they were going to give my dog a drug that could turn toxic, they should have known both what the symptoms of the toxicity from it were and to watch for the signs of it. Yet, in a place with a dozen vets listed on the door, no one did. Even upon hearing what was wrong with my dog from the neurologist and me sending them an article from the Journal of Veterinary Internal Medicine myself on the issue, rather than them admit their mistake they were all trying to tell me how wrong the neurologist was and how they all disagreed with him. Therefore, after spending $12,000 from Monday-midday the following Monday on my dog, I removed her from VETMED and placed her in another animal hospital in the Phoenix area. They agreed with the neurologist findings and told me of several other mistakes that VETMED had made with my dog. When my dog arrived at their place, she had not eaten or been able to walk at all in a week. She couldn’t even drink water anymore either. I paid another $2,000 for her to spend 24 hours there and then brought her home. She immediately starting improving. By the next day, she was starting to eat and could stand on her own. The next day, she was starting to eat everything in sight and was walking again, although not as good as normal. Today, is Saturday, October 15, 2016, and my dog is now eating and drinking normally. However, while some of the damage has reversed, all of it has not, and she saw another vet today that fears that some of the damage to her central nervous system from the neuro toxin is permanent. Bambi walks like she is in mud now, and her whole body shakes. You can’t charge VETMED prices and make those kind of mistakes. I have now spent over $20,000 on my dog, and she was far worse than she was when I first took her to VETMED. Therefore, if you are considering taking your pet to VETMED, for the love of your pet, please look elsewhere. Their negligence might have permanently ruined the remaining years of my dog’s life. Don’t let that happen to you.

Dr. Robertson is the best! Great team. Caring environment. Empathetic. Very patient and informative. We were faced with a really sad reality, but because of Dr. Robertson, we knew what we were dealing with, and made the best quality of life choices we could.
