sure of the reason for the cancelThis could have been a miscommunication from our employee and the insuredShe is no longer hereBut from our notes they called in to cancel a carThe did not mean to cancel the policyWording can sometimes be confusingRegardless we reinstated the policy on May 4, without a lapse in coverageWe then sent a bill out, with payment optionsPlease see a timeline below of the events of the policy.8/8/2014-Started Allstate auto policy2/27/2015cancellation2/27/2015Refund through checking account $93.91, no payment was made after the credit, ever5/4/2015-Policy reinstated, no lapseWas explained that he owed for February through May.5/7/2015-New bill mailed to address of record for $586.516/8/2015Cancellation notice7/2/2015-Left voicemail regarding cancellation due to non-payment7/17/2015-Notice of outstanding balance-$93.918/2/2015-notice of collection8/17/2015-notice of collectionOn September 11, *** called in to see why he owed $and said his policy should not have been cancelledWe were not able to reinstate this policy because a payment was never madeAnd the money that we had put back in his account was now due.We wrote a new policy, a line 19, because he no longer had prior insuranceWe spoke with *** several times to explain that because a payment was never made we could not back date the policyHe said that he thought the payment would come out automaticallyI asked if he opened his mail or checked his checking account and he said that he just assumed everything was ok.I understand that *** *** would like us to reinstate the policy so he can show prior insurance but we cannot do this because of the State of Ohio Insurance rulesHe owes $for the period 2/23/through 2/28/We cannot forgive this payment because he was insured for that period of time I can stop the collection once that amount is paidI am sorry for the inconvenience.Thank you,Jackie T***
