[redacted] of Oxnard, California alleging that he bought an expired food product atour Seafood City Supermarket located at 8955 Mira Mesa Boulevard, Mira Mesa, CA 92126.While he indicated that he bought a food product "pilipit" from our store, he did not identifyexactly the specific brand of the product. We sell several brands of the same product, and restassured that we do not sell alleged "expired" products in our store.At Seafood City Supermarket, we pride ourselves of striving to provide quality products to ourcustomers conscientiously. While it is difficult for us, at the moment, to physically verify Mr.[redacted]'s claim, we are saddened that we failed to delight him with our product and we take itseriously such that we have instructed our concerned store staff to pursue continued vigilance inchecking our products regularly. In accordance to our company policy, we are prepared todiscipline any employee who may be found negligent in ensuring the quality and safety of allproducts sold in our stores.In regards to Mr. [redacted]'s demand that we put expiration dates on our food products, pleasenote that we do not manufacture our products. These are generally sourced from reputablevendors I food manufacturers who also adheres to federal/ state I city food safety regulationsspecifically on food production. Further, the FDA does not require food firms to place "expiredby", "use by" or "best before" dates on food products. This information is entirely at thediscretion of the manufacturer.
