The owner of this business (Joe) and the Victorian Chimney technicians (Inmer, Scirilo, & Co.), who recently completed work at my house, are first rate. Victorian Chimney (Joe) has proved to me that the company stands behind its work and I can't think of anything more important to customers. The owner did have some bad apples working for his company in the past, but he is doing his best to "clean house" and do right by his customers. A few years ago, a crew of his "former" technicians, installed a chimney liner in the portion of my chimney that vents our oil burner to the tune of $1,660. I recently contracted to have our old oil burner replaced and a condition of that contract required me to have the chimney to the oil burner cleaned and inspected. The chimney sweep that I called out to do the cleaning and inspection refused to clean the chimney because the liner was not in one continuous piece. I called Joe and explained the situation, arranged an appointment for his technicians to inspect the liner, and emailed him a copy of my receipt. His technicians came out and confirmed that the liner was not in a continuous piece, but rather, was about 6 ft. short. The "former" installers had simply set a 6 ft. galvanized piece of pipe on top of the stainless steel liner in an attempt to fill the 6 ft. gap. The technicians reported their findings to Joe by phone in my presence and Joe told me on the spot that he would replace the old liner with the proper continuous stainless steel liner at no additional cost. True to his word, his men came out on Saturday 10/15/16 and replaced the liner. Joe kept in touch almost daily until he got his crew out to my house, showing me that he wanted me to be a satisfied customer. I am! I highly recommend this company and will definitely use Victorian Chimney in the future.
Review: Victorian Chimney rebuilt our chimney improperly, leaving a dangerous situation in which smoke from the fireplace filled the basement. My several requests that the firm honor their warranty and fix the problem resulted in them selling me additional, unnecessary services which failed to fix the problem. During at least 4 trips to the house, the firm consistently failed to diagnose the problem. Finally, I was forced to hire another firm to do extensive repairs. I seek a refund for the work done by the other firm as well as the unnecessary work performed by Victorian Chimney Services, Inc.
I have full documentation and provided this to Victorian's owner [redacted] via email on January 25, 2013. On January 31 he confirmed receipt of my message and wrote" " Just received this email and will review your concerns and address each of them. I will be in touch with you thereafter." He has yet to respond, despite my sending him two subsequent email messages and attempting to reach him by phone at his office on January 22.Desired Settlement: Cash payment to reimbe me for the actual cost of correcting the defective work performed by Victorian Chimney Services,
Inc. Victorian attempted on at least four occasions to address the problem of smoke filling my basement when a fire was lit in the fireplace they completely rebuilt. Instead of fixing the problem, they sold me additional, unnecessary products. Finally, after renting the house, I was forced to hire another firm to fix the problem.
Review: Victorian Chimney submitted a proposal to repair my chimney as I was having water leaks inside and outside my fireplace. I showed the pictures of the water leaks during your technician’s diagnosis. I accepted Victorian Chimney's proposal and they performed the repair work on January 2, 2013.
Following the continuous rain in September 8 through 9, water started leaking into the house in the same manner as it happened before. Right after this I contacted Victorian Chimney and informed of the problem and requested that the problem be fixed. They informed me of their inability to respond in a timely manner as they were busy with other jobs (Their excuse was “no trucks available to come out until late October”). So, we agreed and scheduled for them to come to my home on November 4, 2013. On November 1, 2013 (Friday) I called them and confirmed my appointment for November 4. I took leave from my work on November 4 since I have a confirmed appointment but Victorian Chimney called on that morning and said that they cannot come out on that day and need to reschedule. Since I had no choice, we agreed for November 23, 2013. On November 23 they called and said that they will send a mason to do the repair, but no one showed up. I am afraid that they are absconding until the warranty expires on January 2, 2014.Desired Settlement: I paid $1000.00 for this repair that took them less than 2 hours to complete. In my opinion, they did not do a good job. My request is to repair the chimney for the money I paid or refund half of the money I paid.
I've read the complaint and apologize for any inconvenience. I would like to oversee this and make sure the work we performed is still ok and if it is related to this leak. If it is we will redo the work properly. Please call me directly for scheduling at my cell phone # ###-###-####. Thank you.
