Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/09/15) */
Mr*** is scheduled to come in for repairs on Wednesday September 16thA representative from General Motors will be here to oversee the repairsThis representative will also be ensuring that the component coverage letter from GM has the
proper verbiage

As stated by the owner Village Chevrolet completed an oil change on their 2015 Camaro 10/20/16.  During the oil change the O-ring on the cartridge style oil filter got damaged by the aluminum housing.  The leak was not present until the vehicle is driven on the road and the oil system...

pressurized that the vehicle leaked oil.  The leak caused a drop in oil pressure and the check engine light came on, causing the owner to shut the vehicle down.  The vehicles sensors are designed to indicate drop in oil pressure before engine damage is present. The vehicle was then towed back to Village Chevrolet. During the vehicle inspection it was determined the oil filter O-ring was the cause of the leak.  The oil filter was replaced as well as the oil, and the oil was set to the correct level.  The technician found no evidence of any internal engine damage in the oil.  The technician then test ran the vehicle to inspect for any damage that may have been caused, there is no damage present and the engine runs as designed.  Service Manager then discussed the issue the next day and per the request of the customer Village Chevrolet picked up the vehicle from the customers work to inspect again for any damage and to listen to the engine on cold start.  When the vehicle was driven back to the shop the oil was again drained to inspect for any evidence of engine damage, the oil was clean and no damage was present.  The vehicle was kept overnight to start the vehicle cold in the morning, the vehicle was started and inspected for any abnormal engine noise, and none was present.  Village Chevrolet then cold started a new Camaro with the same engine and the engine noise was identical.  The vehicle was then delivered back to the owner. Village Chevrolet assumes responsibility for any damage caused by dealership staff to any vehicle worked on.  The dealership has been in business for 60 years and will continue to stand behind our work.  The service manager has had numerous conversations with the owners and personally picked up and returned the vehicle at the vehicle owner’s employer twice.  In this case there was in fact an error caused during the service visit but the error did not in our professional opinion cause any damage to the vehicle.  The oil was replaced multiple times to ensure there is no damage to the engine, and was inspected by multiple technicians.  Currently the vehicle has 85,000 miles remaining on the factory warranty, and there is nothing in the service record that would diminish the vehicles value as the vehicle is operating as designed.

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 9, 2015/07/21) */
I apologize for the problems that Mr. [redacted] has had with his Chevrolet Malibu. It is unfortunate, however Village Chevrolet is not responsible for weather damage.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 11, 2015/07/31) */
(The consumer...

indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
they have not been willing to make me whole as whole as I was when I drop my car off

I am rejecting this response because:
I do not accept that Village Chev can make a statement saying that the lack of Oil in the Engine , Smoke coming from Engine Compartment and Terrible Clattering noise from Engine - did not cause engine Damage or affect the longevity of the engine with out tearing it down to look for damage. And there statement of "there is nothing in the service record that would diminish the vehicles value". The comment ENGINE on the service record  without explanation is a Red Flag to anyone looking at purchasing a used Vehicle.I brought my car to a different Chevrolet Garage to have them listen to the engine. Before explaining to them I asked if they would do a Service report search to see what the car has been serviced for. They Questioned me as what "ENGINE" meant on the service report? I explained to them what had happen. They stated they would not be able to give me a fair statement on condition of the car with out keeping it and looking into it further.Village Chev told me that GM has a Technician that does not work Directly for GM and travels around to Dealers to help resolve Issues similar to this. I asked to have this done. They have not contacted me on this that was in Early November 2016. When I called GM the first time they ran a ON STAR Diagnostics on 11/17/16 and came up with 4 Failed codes.FSC Fuel System Control ModuleABS Braking Stability SystemSDM Air Bag SystemECM Engine System (DO NOT KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS)I have not heard back from GM They said they contact me in 2-3 business Days. that was 4 weeks ago.Since this incident The Oil Pressure is Running 5-10 PSI lower than it did originally. We have had Random Cases when Engine Just Kills at a stop light. Village Chevrolet has not tried to contact me and followed up on what they said they would do. This issue is not resolved.[redacted].

After the unfortunate incident with Mr. [redacted]s vehicle Village Chevrolet feels there was no damage caused to Mr. [redacted]s vehicle.  The vehicle was inspected for damage multiple times to verify this statement.  During the vehicle inspection the oil was drained and replaced looking for any evidence of metal in the oil indicating internal engine damage, no metal was present.  The oil pressure was verified by using GM diagnostic equipment during idle and under load both hot and cold, the oil pressure was within GM specifications.  No codes were present from the vehicles engine control module indicating that the engine is operating normally.  The engine noise was compared to another new Camaro with the same engine both hot and cold, engine volume was the same in both vehicles. Based on these diagnostic tests Village feels the statement that there is no damage to the engine is correct. When creating a service repair order with Village Chevrolets operating system, and most other dealership systems the “engine” on the service report is only a labor operation used as a general category to the part of the vehicle to be looked at.  (ie. Engine, transmission, exterior, interior, ect.). This labor operation has no meaning what so ever in the vehicles history, the invoice has all the correct documentation and the invoice would have to be reviewed.  Another GM dealership only has access to the general portion of the repair order and would need the invoice to determine what “engine” means.  This is standard dealership operating procedure and is not uncommon.  Mr. [redacted] has received the invoices for each repair, if needed they can be provided any time by Village. The 4 diagnostic codes provided by GM and the killing at a stop light would need to be diagnosed by a GM certified technician to determine the cause of the code or failure.  Mr. [redacted] has not discussed these codes with Village Chevrolet and without diagnosis we are unable to address the cause of the code.  The vehicle is under full factory warranty and any GM dealer including Village can inspect the vehicle at no cost. During conversation with Mr. [redacted], he stated there was nothing we could do for him at Village Chevrolet to make him satisfied except for a full refund of the vehicle.  Mr. [redacted] did not want the engine torn down to inspect the internal components, nor did he want the engine replaced because he felt the original engine serial numbers would be compromised.  Because Mr. [redacted] will accept no resolution but a refund of the vehicle Village Chevrolet did not pursue further inspection by a GM field technician. Because Village Chevrolet feels a full vehicle refund is unjustified and because there is no other resolution that is acceptable to Mr. [redacted] we are unable to satisfy him at this time.
