My company was called by the homeowner to find a leak in their home and then repair damage to the interior of the home once the
leak was stoppedWe could not quote the job because we did not know where the leak was exactlyI told them that we would do the work on a cost plus materials basisWe got up in the area where the leak appeared to be coming from and found that it had been covered over several times with improper materials and botched at least on two occasions before we attempted to find the leakWe tore off the two layers of bent cladding on their home (which was not the proper material to use for this application)and removed several layers of shingles in the two emerging valleysThe way the roof was designed it directed water down to one specific point before it turned at the corner and continued on down the roof in another directionWe installed layers of blue-skin (waterproof membrane) and installed step flashing along the wall where it was done previously and was done incorrectlyWe did have to change the drywall in one area in the home and re-insulated and replaced a large section of hardwood flooring as wellWe then painted the interior walls and trimWhen the job was finished, we saw that the *** were addressing a disaster at the rear of the home at the same time as the we were working on the front areaNot sure why they didn't connect the damages to that same claimWe finished our project and sent the Invoice in to the homeowners to get paid for the work we didThe entire Invoice for both Labour and materials was for $3227,plus HSTThe same day we received a phone call saying that they would not give us this much moneyThat they were willing to give us $taxes includedI felt that I would not get anything if I did not agree so I revised another Invoice for $plus HST , which works out to $We did not make a penny profit on this project due to their slashing our costs so I do not feel I should have to honor anything on this particular project as far as warranty goes because they voided the warranty when they did not pay us in full for the original Invoice

The contractor did not fix what they are supposed to fix, periodI do not care how much they put in to fix the interior, the main reason we reach to the contractor is the fix the leaking, without the leaking being fixed, there was no point fix the interior
And the roof leaking has nothing to do with ***There is something needed to be address for the roof and *** said with $1,estimate and he will fix every plus one year warranty as most contractors honorHe did work and assumed the leaking was fixed and go ahead with interior workWe depended on him and paid him his work although the amount of money we paid was significantly higher than he originally told usWe would never hire someone saying they would just trying to fix the leak, *** made us believe that he is the right person to do the job back then
And today the leaking is back and we consulted with other roof expertise and they quoted 500$ guaranteed to fix the leaking with full warrantyNow we realized that *** did not know what he was doing at all and he is still have no idea of how to fix our problemI am requesting full refund with extra cost of fixing damaged interior again!
Final point is *** did not finish his work and he is still have no idea what is going on to fix the leakingHe did not do the work we paid him for!!!

After further contemplation regarding this matter, I realize ,both the homeowners and myself, would be uncomfortable if we were to return to their home and make the necessary repairs once the leak has stoppedI will offer the homeowners a full refund, so that they may find another company to make the necessary repairs
