Hello, my name is *** and I am an owner of a 2013 Nissan Sentra in Canada. The vehicle was purchased brand new from the same dealership that this complaint is involving. Within the last few days, the vehicle has been experiencing transmissions issues and I have been told by this dealership (specifically ***, the service rep I spoke to) that it needs to be replaced. The car has not reached 6 years of age yet, and I just recently hit 80,000 KM. I find this unacceptable that a car of this age and mileage to require a $5000 fix. I understand that cars age and parts gradually break, however, it has been brought to my attention through research that there has been numerous amounts of complaints on the web involving the CVT transmissions within Nissan vehicles. I have researched that this issue has been so common to the point that Nissan has extended warranty of CVT transmissions of XXXX-XXXX cars. How can I not be frustrated that a car that's even younger in 2013 is having the exact same issue.***

*** This issue has caused be tremendous headaches including transportation to my employment. I am deeply concern about the reliability of this vehicle and I will like to hear their response for a common solution.

Desired Outcome

The resolution that I am seeking fro this business is warranty for the CVT transmissions of itself. ***. I have researched and found numerous and numerous videos and resources on this issue. Even if it is not a full warranty, at least provide a greatly discounted price to replace the transmission. A $5000 price tag on a vehicle purchased less than 6 years ago seems extremely unreasonable to me, and more importantly, unreliable to the consumer. I have never heard of such a costly replacement needed on a car of such age. I understand cars age and break down, but this issue seems to be common enough to be all over the internet.

Unfortunately, the customer's Manufacturer Warranty Coverage had expired. We subsequently replaced the CVT assy, as authorized by the customer (March 19, 2019). As a goodwill gesture, we assisted the valued customer with a discount on the repairs.

I bought a 2009 [redacted] from this dealership in January 2014. It had low mileage and was a reasonable price. I decided to test drive it and I heard some noise in the rear of the vehicle like as if something towards the rear of the car was loose. At that time, I did not have much experience buying a vehicle so I brought up the noise to the salesperson with me in the car and he said he didn't hear anything. After the test drive, I proceeded to check the trunk area and everything seemed fine to me. So I went inside and I asked to see the carproof and it came out clean - the sales manager and the sales person both assured me that the car was accident free. I was suspicious as to why it was being sold as a used vehicle and not a certified pre-owned vehicle since it seemed to be in great condition - but I decided that I was probably overthinking things.

Fast forward 20 months and the noise in the trunk has gone from mild, to bad to worse. I have had this car checked with 2 body shops since and they both confirmed that this car definitely had been in an accident and was not properly fixed. There is also obvious uneven gap on either side of the trunk which I did not notice since I was only able to visit the dealership in the evenings and frankly was not very savvy at buying cars at the time.

To sum things up - I am absolutely convinced the dealership knew that this was not an accident free vehicle, I was able to tell within 6 months and I was untrained. Not all accidents show up on the Carproof as not all of them are reported and go through insurance.

Make sure you thoroughly check ANY used vehicle you purchase from this dealership. If you don't have experience with cars, bring someone who does and take it to a mechanic before you buy. and ABSOLUTELY check the car in the day light as its easier to notice inconsistencies. Do NOT depend on the Carproof. I never went back to this dealership to talk to them about this issue because I knew they would plead ignorance and tell me they had no reason to suspect the Carproof. Be smart, learn from my mistake.

My 2012 Nissan *** is my family only vehicle. I was at Markham Village Nissan for a minor service on Friday, Sept. 15, 2017. One of the service agents told me that my car was on a recall list and is not safe to drive on road. At that moment, I have no idea about the recall as I haven't received a recall letter. He offered a rental car for me and told me that I can have it until at least Spring 2018 due to out of stock of the airbag. He asked me to sign an agreement not driving my own car. Also, another agreement for the rental car was signed but he didn't mention anything about the limited mileage per month. I was in a rush for my job, so I signed wherever he instructed me to sign then left. After working, I read the details and found out that there's a limited mileage in the agreement. Next morning, I went back to Village Nissan to request a 2nd key and unlimited mileage. Both requests were rejected by the service agent and he told me to call his manager, Mr. *** next week because the manager was not in the office on Saturday. I did send an email and called Mr. on Monday, Sept. 18. He told me that nothing he can do as it's a rental car. He can make the 2nd key for me if I willing to pay several hundred dollars for it. And no extra mileage for me. I asked if the dealer will pay for the extra mileage if any, he said no. I felt so depressed and stressful and told him that I would rather drive my own car instead. Mr. told me that I have to take my own risk if I do so. It seems no choice for me. I called Nissan Canada and talked to customer support agents Ms. on Sept. 19 and Ms. on Sept. 20 trying to ask for help. Nothing they can do even talked to Mr., the supervisor on Sept. 20. I felt so disappointed, so stressful and so depressed. There's no customer service at all. My Nissan *** is the only car for my family. It's very inconvenient without the 2nd key. Also, I don't feel comfortable with limited mileage, that's why I own it instead of financing or lease. It's not my fault. Why I need to suffer with it. I was nowhere asking for help. A month later, I still feel the stress and depression and actually, it hurt my stomach. I did appreciate them for offering me a rental car but not with the limited mileage option and without the 2nd key. I feel very disappointed for being a customer with Nissan Canada.

Desired Outcome

I need to request unlimited or at least 4000 km mileages per month instead of 2000 km because I need to go to difference places taking care of my mother and my job. I don't want to drive with stress to avoid paying the extra mileages. I need to request a 2nd key for my family.

Village Nissan Response

We at Village Nissan sympathize with the customer's situation and understand how and why it could be so upsetting. Unfortunately, this is a recall mandated by Nissan Canada and we as their authorized dealer, are bound by their policies and procedures pertaining to this recall. It is highly unusual for an automotive manufacturer to supply a replacement vehicle for such an extended period of time and Nissan Canada should be commended for their investment in customer satisfaction in this situation. Unfortunately, the rental company only allows 2000 km's per month and overages are billed directly to the customer at $0.12 per km. As far as the customer's concern regarding the extra key, nowadays, automotive keys contain micro-chip technology and are expensive to reproduce. Although we haven't been able to produce a solution which might satisfy the customer, hopefully we've been able to shed some light on and provide additional information concerning the issues raised.
