May 10, 2018To whomever it may concern, [redacted] purchased the [redacted] puppy on April 36, from our? storeWhen we sell our puppies we also send home with the new owners an? information sheet - that has helpful information for taking their new puppy home ?" and? a copy of Pennsylvania State Dog LawWe are enclosing both of these sheets for? references, The puppy had been in our store since April 11, and was eating, drinking, acting like a puppy and had hard feces. On May 1, 2018, [redacted] contacted the store and said that the puppy wasn't? eating or acting and had very loose fecesWe advised her to bring the puppy in? so we could see herShe brought the puppy in and the employee on duty gave the? puppy [redacted] - which is a high-calorie palatable dietary supplement used for stressed? pets and/or picky eaters, who need increased caloric and nutritional intake - and some? wet food for [redacted] to take home to help with getting the puppy to eat? againWe understand that sometimes when a puppy goes to a new home it can be? overly stressful for them which can make they not want to eat and have loose? fecesWe always try to help and give the customer any tips in getting the puppy back to? a more lifestyle - which is why we were so happy that [redacted] contacted us? right away.On May 2, it was brought to our attention that one of the litter mates of her puppy? had gone to the vet and had a parasite called CoccidiaThe owner, MrsW***, called? [redacted] to inform her of the parasite and that there was a chance that her puppy? could have it as wellShe offered to provide her with the medication for the parasite or? she could wait until her vet appointment to have the vet prescribe it [redacted] ? informed the owner that she had a vet appointment already scheduled for May 3, 2018and that she would wait until thenAt that time the owner did let [redacted] know? that we would reimburse her for the medication that the vet prescribed for the puppy? ONLYlater that evening [redacted] 's mother stopped in the store and talked with? as was given to [redacted] earlier in the dayAt that time the mother also said that? the puppy was eating and doing better. On May 3, 2018, we were contacted by [redacted] in the morning to inform us that? the puppy was being hospitalized and in critical condition at her vet after haying a? seizureWe had told her to keep us updatedand at this time there was really nothing? else that we could do until the vets had everything under control and found out what? ? was going onLater that evening [redacted] ***’s mother again stopped and talks to the? managerShe said that the vet said the puppy did have a bad case of coccidia but thatdoes not usually cause seizuresShe also said at that time the puppy was also in? guarded condition and was staying hospitalized over-nightShe also informed the? manager that the vet said the puppies sugar levels were low and had to give her a? supplement to help bring them back upAfter ?nding out the puppy had low sugar? levels the manager was also informed that the puppy had stopped eating and drinking? sometime the day before and had also started vomitingAt this point that manager? realized that if the puppies sugar level was too low the puppy could go into what is? hypoglycemic shock - or sugar shock - which can cause the puppy to have? seizuresPuppies can go into this level of hypoglycemic shock from not eating and for? drinking enough, which is why puppies in a new home need to be watched and monitored to make sure that they are eating and drinking properly. In the evening of May 4, 2018, [redacted] 's mother again came in and spoke with the? managerAt this time, she informed us that they did pick the puppy up earlier that day? and it was doing much better after spending the night at the veterinary hospitalShe? also had the bill from the vet for the puppy as wellThe owner, MrsW***, did advise? the manager that we would go ahead and reimburse [redacted] for the entire vet? billSo, at that time a check was written out to [redacted] ? for the full? amount of the vet bill, which came to $459.32.? On May 6, 2918, the manager, MrsG [redacted] , called [redacted] to check up? the? puppy around 1:pm [redacted] said that the puppy was doing great - running? around playing, eating, drinking and acting more like a puppyThe manager told? her to keep us updated and to let us know if anything changesAt that point it was the? end of the conversation and we have not heard anything else about the puppy to this? date.We would next like to address [redacted] ’s concern about our puppiesYes, Coccidia? is contagious and we take all precautions not to pass anything between any of our? puppiesWe do use one bucket and rag for our kennels, but what [redacted] fails to? have knowledge of is that we use concentrated bleach water in our bucketsWe also? make sure to return the rag to the bucket between kennels so that we are not cross? contaminating the puppies just in case one would have a parasiteWe also make sure? that if we do have an infected puppy we have a separate bucket and rag for them just? for extra precautions. As far as [redacted] s concern for the rest of the puppies in our store we did have a surprise routine inspection on May 4, from the Dog Law Officer and the State? Veterinarian ?" which were already informed of the situation with this puppy: They? informed us that all of our puppies are in good health. As for [redacted] desired settlement we would like to point out that we did already? reimburse her for the entire vet bill of $Her desired settlement? for entire cost of the puppy as well and retain the puppy is unreasonable.Sincerely,Christina W., owner
