This car was towed into my shop without an appointment and without any verbal contact to us first of the issue of the repair neededHe has never been to my shop before When we found the issue with the pulleys and priced out the job to the customer, he had every chance at that point to price
it elsewhere and deny my repair if he thought it was too much, going to my competitor and asking them if I charged too much after the fact is a moot point and of course they are going to say I overcharged...they are my competitorWhen he OKed the work do be done, we started...part of this repair requires the removal of the radiator and fan shroud to gain access to the pulleys and when we removed the fan shroud we found an issue...there is supposed to be bolt that hold the shroud to brackets mounted on the radiator...instead of the bolts being present, there was only one and it was screwed directly into the radiator instead of the bracket...the reason it was not leaking was because the bolt installed created a seal and only began to leak when the bolt was removedAt that point we called the customer and told him of this issue and also that his a/c condenser was bent and could leak in the future due to that bend...we told him that we could replace the radiator for only the cost of the part and charge no extra labor because we were already removing it to perform the other repair...at that time we also asked him to come and look at the issue so he can see it for himself...which he did and still refused the radiator repairWe performed the repair as requested and when putting the vehicle back together called him back to make sure he did not want the radiator and that if he does the radiator after we put it back together we would also have to charge labor...this was the best time to do it....he again refusedWe did warn him on multiple conversations that the radiator would in fact now leak because that bolt no longer Sealed the hole...he did not seem to care at that timeWhen he came back with the leak he acted as though we never told him any of the things I explained to you earlier and demanded the new radiator for free...at that time we refused any further repairs to this customer and asked him to remove his car.My question is...If he has a "regular” Mechanic...why was the car brought to me instead of that shop? This seems to me that he was already aware of this issue and was looking for someone else to pin this onI have enclosed the invoice that was given to the customer at time of the payment madeI refuse to refund or appease this customer in any way if he never was my customer before and never planned on returning from the get go.Frank F*Manager-Vince lacone's Liberty
