respected treatment facility that specializes is working with vulnerable adults due to cognitive issues such as mental illness and/or traumatic brain injury (TBI), along with the chemical dependency issues. We are also a "teaching" center that accepts Internships from colleges and universities around the region, including the Hazelden/Betty Ford Organization. We have won national awards and have placed in Minnesota's Top 100 Places To Work for the last four years. Our Staff members are accustomed to working with individuals that may not necessarily want to come to Vinland initially. Many new clients are suffering from untreated issues, including but not limited to mental illness or withdrawal symptoms. All of our clinical staff are educated, licensed and credentialed in the chemical dependency and/or mental health field. . They are all very practiced in the compassion and sensitivity issues surrounding a client admitting to a treatment facility and conduct themselves in a caring and professional manner. We admit clients 4-10 times per week.
The case you are inquiring about was brought to management's attention immediately. It is our view that this client was unhappy to be admitting and was searching for reasons to not be here. I have enclosed write-ups from both individuals mentioned in the complaint (Pat [redacted] Intake Councilor and Josh [redacted] Case Manager). The attached statements describe their experiences that morning.
I would also like to add that we are running at full capacity, or near that on a regular basis. (61 beds.) We accept adults over the age of 18 that meet our admission criteria. Our clients come from all financial situations such as a private pay, commercial insurance, government funded and/or court ordered through a drug diversion program. There is no one "type" of client that we favor or discriminate against. Addiction has no boundaries. In regard to the cleanliness of our facility; We utilize Housekeeping staff 180 hours each week. We also experience successful inspections on a regular basis from a variety of government agencies. I take personal pride in the beautiful, clean and safe facility that Vinland provides.
If this information does not suffice, or you would like any additional information please let me know. Also, since this is our first complaint I am unsure as to what the next steps will be.
