Vinsick Contracting Reviews (2)

Review: I contracted [redacted] from Vinsick Contracting to build a deck in November of 2014. He was paid $14,000 of the $18,008 (receipt given dated 12/1/15) and has not finished the job. He said their was a delay in getting the decking manufacterd by company called [redacted], but Home Depot is the distributor. This job was originally to be completed in December of 2014 and then in March due to the claim the decking was delayed. The contractor is yet to finish the job and I called [redacted] directly and they said that none of their products should take 5 months to get. Vinsick was also contracted to remodel a master bathroom while we waited from the decking to come in. He has not finished that job either where he still needs to install a vanity and bath tub. Our last contact with Vinsick was the week of March 20. He has not returned any calls or emails that I have placed into him.Desired Settlement: I would like him to either finish both jobs by 5/22 at the latest or return back the 14,000 for unfinished portion of the deck and return back $10,000 for the unfinished portion of the bathroom.

Review: I contracted Bob V[redacted] to complete the construction of a deck before July 4th 2015. I was told he and his crew would be working on the deck for 2 weeks. They were here for a total of 8 days. They were supposed to replace an existing porch and add a 16'X19' deck to the back side of that porch. I wound up with something close but not what was talked about or dawn up. The porch and the deck were supposed to stay lined up together and instead I got an "executive decision" of an 18" protrusion on the side of my deck (past the porch) so the square footage would be about the same. On the day of completion they finished at dark. I paid Vinsick in full assuming he had made sure everything was complete. I bought solar lights as toppers for my posts. He said he would cut them 3" above the top of the railing. He cut them flush. I asked why and he stated "after we did that they didn't look right so we cut them flush". Flush being a relative term because the post cuts were so uneven none of the light are level when looking at them. As a matter of fact I had to install them after they broke 3 mounts and I told them to stop because they weren't doing it correctly. The next day I inspected the work further and found screws missing from the flooring boards. The post at the bottom of the stairs is cut 7" short. The stair railing is another 6" short. Some of the spindles weren't screwed in the whole way and some were split because they didn't do a pilot hole. A bolt used to attach the deck to house wasn't even finger tight. 2 railing posts need refitted so railing will be strait. The top 2 steps were cut wrong and look horrible. They left all their pencil mark visible on the finished product (didn't use a calk line). I had him back to the house and explained the issues on the 23rd of June. We agreed on what needed to be fixed and work that needed to be done to satisfy the shortcomings of the work. Last we spoke was the 11th and he said he would be here on the 17th. That was 2 days ago.Desired Settlement: I am requesting $1000 of the $4500 returned to me. Mostly because it wasn't built to specification and partially because it is 15 days past the completion deadline and far from complete. I also spent spent $50 in hardware to correct for the short posts. After going through ALL of the scraps I found NO 3" cutoffs of ANY posts. The correct way to fix the issue is to replace all 12 (6"x6")posts and that is my preference. Another contractor has said it would be 2 days labor to finish.
