Review: I sought the services of VIP Room Rental Services on March **, 2014. I met with a representative of the company named [redacted] and explained to her that the reason I needed help was that I had two jobs and I needed to move quickly but the time wouldn't allow for me to do my own search. She said no problem and that she had many rooms in the Bronx and Manhattan. I requested a midsize to large room in the Bronx area. She proceeded to take my information and make copies. afterwards she asked me for the $370.00 fee. I explained that I would give her the balance in full on Tuesday and would prefer to give it to her then since I had no money on my person. She then said to give her $125.00 for the office fee, and was pushing need to hurry since there was someone eager to show a room. When I returned, she quickly took the money and drew up a receipt that said the funds were nonrefundable. She gave me the address to two rooms on an index card and rushed me out of the office. When I arrived to the address of the first room, it was about the size of a small walk in closet and was on top of a daycare,neither of which fit the description of what I requested. Then the [redacted] of the second address was not even home to show the room, and when I finally got in touch with him, he explained the room for rent was $195.00 per week ([redacted]'s contract said it was $125 for singles and $150 00 for couples. I told her I could pay up to $150 since, I know that the prices for rooms varied). By the time I attempted to contact her about returning my money, she changed her number and didn't show up to the office for a week. I went everyday, leaving handwritten notes with my contact information and I got no response. I finally tracked her down by creating a fake phone number using an soon and posing as a potential client. When I finally found her three weeks later, she said that my money would not be returned. When I explained to her that she lied about her services, she dismissed me and gave me faulty information.Desired Settlement: I would like my $125.00 deposit returned. Even though they put nonrefundable on the receipt, the did not fulfil their end of the contract and I believe that to be a breach of contact. And the way they went about avoiding me is indicative of a scam.
