I needed a gutter and soffit replaced in 2014. It partially fell down due to the heavy snow. I got 3 other estimates, all of which were very high for the work involved especially since none of the estimates planned on replacing the gutter with new gutter. I was looking for a taller extension ladder to do the work myself when I was referred to Virginia Home improvement. The estimate I received was in line with what I expected the work to cost.
They came and did the work as scheduled and noticed that another gutter wasn't draining properly because of its slope (I was planning to fix that myself) and repaired that for a very modest additional charge.
I was very happy with his work and pricing. It was good to deal with an honest man. I discovered during the process that he had performed some work for some of my family in the area and all of them said that they were very happy with his work too. I would highly recommend working with them.

I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.Mr. Philip W[redacted]'s inability to make good on the contract, or responding to my numerous calls requesting he provide a status or reason for failing to start the work on two separate occasions reflects a disregard for the legal agreement we both signed and the ethical behavior I expected.  Mr. Philip W[redacted] wasted no time cashing the $3,200.00 check without regard in ensuring the contract stipulations were met or honored. If not for my contacting the Revdex.com, he would not have responded. To date, I have not heard from him regarding this matter. I am not interested in dealing with him or his company or any further communication with him.  I expect a full refund within the next 30 days.

A certified letter mailed to the business, requesting a refund of deposit for work not performed, was delivered 12/28/16 and signed for by Mr....

Philip W[redacted].We have since contracted with another business that has completed the roof work that Virginia Home Improvements, Inc. should have done.
Please advise the best next step to take in recouping our deposit money, since the Revdex.com is closing this complaint.

We had already performed work for [redacted] on both this property and on her home prior to her signing this contract. Getting this signed was a problem. The 1st appointment she did not keep, I waited for an hour for her to come home and did not receive a phone call. The 2nd appointment I was...

also kept waiting, and because I couldn't confirm installation two days hence on Saturday, as she insisted on being there, [redacted] refused to sign the contract. The following day I suggested that she find another contractor as I was fed up with being disrespected. The next day she called me back and pleaded that we do the work and removed the restriction that we do the work on her timetable. Another company had done the roofing on the front of the house and I wondered why she didn't use them again. Then came a long delay before she could meet with me again to finally sign the contract. Then one of the worst winters we have experienced for a long time kicked in. If it wasn't snowing or raining, it was too cold for shingle installation. The industry standard is that shingles should not be installed when the temperature is below 40F., as this will cause cracking. A caution appears on the packaging. There was hardly a day between the signing of the contract and 1-27-2014 when [redacted] called to cancel when her roofing could be installed. I called the distributor to see if they would deliver the shingles, but as no deliveries were being made anywhere near the property they said it wouldn't be feasible. The customer has 3 days to legally cancel a contract not several weeks. The bad weather is not an excuse it is a fact. Because of this winter people are not signing contracts which affects cash flow. Although I still intend to reimburse [redacted] the deposit, minus costs incurred, I ask her o be patient and wait till we get some funds in.
Thank you,
[redacted]

This contractor is absolutely EXCELLENT! The estimate presented to us was the lowest out of 6 contractors who bid for the job of adding a very large porch to the home and re-shingling the entire roof. The job was completed on budget (no overruns in cost), ahead of schedule, and way beyond expectations in quality and appearance. We highly recommend this contractor; very attentive, courteous, and communicative during the project. We definitely will be using this contractor again!

I am not satisfied with this resolution, because no work was done, and I will not wait for a down payment from another client that may not happen.

I spoke with [redacted] from the business and he stated that he is refunding $[redacted] to the consumer. He will be able to refund the consumer when he gets a new down payment for a job.

Virginia Home Improvement receive down payment to install windows and carpet on screened porch at my mom's house. After months of fail appointments and poor work-men-ship, we are exhausted. One of the owner employee torn down another employee work and it have to be done over because he said it was poorly done, he also told the owner that he need to get that employee to finish his job so he can do his job. Now we are waiting.........

Review: I had written agreement with [redacted] from Virginia Home Improvements Incorporated, to replace roof (back section) on house located at [redacted] I had given him a check written in the amount $750.00 as deposit. [redacted] cashed the check, but never did the work. I spoke with him over the phone asking when he will start the work. It was always an excuse about the weather or other jobs first. My contract stated the work would start the first week of December 2, 2013, and be completed the same day. January 27, 2014, I called [redacted] and requested the return of my deposit. He agreed. I waited ten days, but I never received my deposit. I then called [redacted], and he requested that I put my request in writing. I mailed [redacted] the letter he requested, and through another telephone conversation, he stated he received it. [redacted] also stated that business was slow. As of March 11, 2014, I have not received my deposit.Desired Settlement: A check in the amount of $750.00.
