Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.MrR*** indicates that they "did offer a small discount for the extended wait." They used some of our cinder blocks for the foundation, for which I believe they offered $Any discount beyond that has not been discussed or offeredWe are asking for a discount of $which seems quite reasonable given the two-month delay and material changesMy husband did ask for a refund on numerous occasions and we were always given the runaround and promises of "next week." If indeed the shed on the lot is seven years old, we should have been told that when placing the order on July 13, We thought we were getting one product and instead received anotherHad we known about the product variations, we could have had a chance to adequately compare both products and shop aroundThey hesitated to inform us as the consumer yet did not hesitate to cash our check and provide poor communications and customer service. MrR*** should advise his customers that the product has changed, whether for the better or not remains to be seenCustomers have a reasonable expectation that what they are paying for will be delivered as such in the allotted timeframe or that other accommodations (i.eprice adjustments) will be made
On October 13, 2015, my husband, *** ***, sent the following email to MrR***:From: *** *** **Sent: Tuesday, October 13, 2:PMTo: Michael R***Subject: RE: Pittsburgh Shed Response and Request for PaymentMrR***The complaint is true to what we were feeling right down to the endWe felt as though we were being lied toThe only way to contact Dave was to come to the shopOtherwise, he never returned our callsThe day before construction, I went down to the store at 4:p.mand it was closedI thought that was strangeSo, I went around to the back and met the builderI told him to convey to Dave, my message that I was disappointed with how the deal was handled and that if they could not produce a shed the next day, that I wanted a refundWith the prediction of a big storm, two walls and the frame of the shed were built, and left for four days in the rainYou can see the boards that retained the moisture. The part that is not up to interpretation (or feelings) is the "This paragraph accuses us of providing inferior materials to the display models on our lot..." partThe shed on the lot has doors made of 2xconstruction, with the USB material, trimmed with 1xboards on the outsideThese doors are then hung with piano hingesThis is probably the strongest door on the market and was a big reason for our coming to youThe shed that we received is made of 2xconstruction with the USBThen it is trimmed with the same USB materialThe edges are trimmed the same way and give a cheap appearance and, in our opinion, shows an inferior product than what we thought we were buyingThe hinges that we received are simple gate hinges, which will doBut it's just not what we wanted and it is not what you are displaying on the lotHence the bait-and-switch reference.I understand the problems that arise with a businessBetter customer communication would have prevented the situation from getting out of handIt was August when I started telling Dave that I could do it myself at that pointI had completed my other projectsWe could easily have parted amicablyEvery time I went to the store, I heard a different vague construction dateThen, someone told me a definite date and I gave it two days past that date before I called and then went in.My wife wrote the complaint and I stand by what she saidAnd her comments are just what we were thinking all summerWe would like to come to a realistic compromise if that is possiblePlease let me know what you think.Thanks.*** ** *** MA, MS

Mr. R[redacted],My husband and I are not liars or cheats. We are customers with
a concern. Threats of sending our balance due to collections does nothing to
remedy our concerns with your company. If you do not believe in handling
matters through the Revdex.com, then you should remove this clause
from your invoices:On the reverse side of the Visions Remodeling Invoice it
states under 3. Mediation: “the parties shall endeavor to resolve their Claims by
mediation, which, unless the parties mutually agree otherwise, shall be in accordance
with the Rules of Mediation currently in effect of the Revdex.com
serving the area where the work is located.”Never in all of my years in dealing with contractors and
businesses have I encountered an individual so accusatory and unwilling to work
with their customers. The greatest issue at hand here is lack of communication. We
were led to believe that Dave owned the company. He failed to inform us of your
labor issues until nearly two months after he cashed our check. We tried to obtain
a refund, but Dave continued to avoid us. He wouldn’t take our calls and my
husband went to the Visions Remodeling office at least a half dozen times in

Please forward me their contact information as soon as possible. The day that work finally began on our shed, Dave came to
the house and rather than offer even the slightest apology for the delay, he
shifted his eyes around, looked at the ground and left. You may wish to reconsider
his level of involvement with your customers. He is portraying himself as the
owner of Visions Remodeling, cashing checks immediately and offering no
communication after the fact. I hope you can understand our concern that he
simply took our money and ran. Had we known that you were the owner, we would
have contacted you directly to discuss the construction delay and Dave’s lack
of regard for customer concerns. As for our final invoice, I see that there is a $50 credit
for the two-month delay (representing 1% of the purchase price) and a $5 credit
for one cinder block. A total of four of our cinder blocks were used, which
would make the $5 credit a $20 credit.I offer to settle for an additional $75 discount over your
invoice dated 10/1/2015, which including your $50 construction delay credit, would
represent a total discount of 3.5% of the purchase price, far less than the 9%
refund we were initially seeking. The final balance due would then be: $1,636.50 = $1,726.50 (as per the invoice) - $15 (for the three additional
cinder blocks) - $75 (additional credit)I have the check in hand, dated 10/19/2015 and ready to drop

Well now the [redacted] have moved from exaggerations to lies. Beyond what we offered for using a few of their cinder blocks, there was an e-mail sent to Mr. [redacted] offering a small discount for the delay in getting the shed built. It was sent on Thursday, October 1. Mr. [redacted] replied to the e-mail that same day, so clearly it was received. Now they are saying that no discount was offered beyond the cinder blocks. I will forward the e-mail to anyone who wants proof, so that they can see which side is making things up here. The bottom line is that the [redacted] received the quality shed that they purchased. They apparently are looking to nitpick small things to look for discounts, like the trim around the door being different than the model on our lot (as previously stated, we did make a change to the trim, and what we use now is far superior). After the first complaint, we are now being told that the hinges are different too. That is true, but again, the hinges are of comparable or better quality. I'm expecting that we'll next hear that we used some different screws than on the model, and that deserves some discount too. We did experience a delay in getting our backlog of sheds caught up, as we had two of our main workers in this area injured at about the same time this year. We brought in additional help, but they proved unreliable. We have now gotten caught up with our backlog, and brought on additional permanent resources. We sincerely regret the delay that was caused, but a small company cannot just give things away. So we offered a small discount for the troubles. The [redacted] are asking for an unreasonable discount, and pointing to all kinds of minor things to justify it. The worst part is that they are accusing us of bait and switch, which we take as an enormous offense to our character. If the delay was so serious to the [redacted], they could have cancelled the order and gotten an immediate refund (one other customer did this, and we immediately refunded his money. I will provide the name and contact info of that customer for anyone who wants to check). But they didn't. So they need to pay the agreed to price now, less the discount that was offered for the delay. The final 50% of the shed remains unpaid as of today.

ourbusiness.  We take pride in the higher quality of our sheds. Theonly difference in the shed that we constructed for the [redacted] and the Keystone shedthat is on our display lot (which is about 7 years old)  is the trim around the doors. The one on ourdisplay lot uses wooden 2x4s on the door trim, while their shed uses the LPSmartSide siding for the door trim. This is because the SmartSide is a superior product. Wood splits, rots, and warps over time. The SmartSide is warranted against these things, and is a superior product. That is why we made the change. So we are accused of bait and switch while we actually provided something superior. It is true that we experienced a long delay in getting the [redacted] shed built. We had two of our construction workers seriously injured, one almost losing his hand in a saw accident. We tried to bring on additional people, but they are difficult to find during the busy summer season. We just recently were successful in adding two more people. During the communications with the [redacted], they never asked about a refund or a discount. One other customer who was also subjected to later than expected installation did ask for a refund, which we promptly provided. The [redacted] had us construct the shed, and only now are asking for a significant discount. They received exactly what they ordered, and as mentioned, with some improved features. We did offer a small discount for the extended wait, but they are unreasonably asking for much more. They cite all kinds of unrelated issues like raining while we were constructing the shed, which are meaningless. The bottom line is that they got the shed that they ordered, admittedly late, but we are a reputable company that is being unfairly accused of wrongdoing.

Review: On July 13, 2015, we contracted Visions Remodeling to build a shed based on a specific model in their lot. They advised that the shed would be completed in four weeks (about August 13, 2015). In August, my husband began to call Dave to determine the start time. Dave literally gave my husband the run around, avoiding his calls. My husband went to the Visions Remodeling office and Dave either wouldn't be there or told my husband it would be soon. By mid-September, we thought of contacting an attorney for fear that Dave made off with our money (he cashed our check on July 13, 2015). We were told that one of Dave's workers injured his hand. We were told that new workers were being hired, yet they never were. Dave had two people (one injured) building everything. Had Dave been upfront with us, we could have requested our money back and gone elsewhere. He continued to string us along. The shed was completed on October 1, 2015. The framework sat through days of pouring down rain before its completion. Once completed, the doors and trim materials were not of the same caliber as that on the display model. The same day it was, Dave requested his money. We certainly could reach him now that he needed something!Desired Settlement: We paid $1,781.50 on July 13, 2015 with a balance of $1,781.50 due upon completion. The doors and trim were not the same (a form of bait-and-switch in our opinion) and it took them 11 weeks (not 4) to complete, which proved a great setback for us, as we dismantled the old shed with the expectation that a new shed was coming soon. We literally had lawn and outside items everywhere for months! We offered to settle with Dave for $1,400, figuring that was fair given the switched door and trim materials and the longer-than-contracted-for timeframe.
