I am writing to respond to the recent complaint of a contractor with $HandymanI was hired to tear out old tile and replace with new tile in a bathroom showerWhat the contractor has failed to point out was that he did not inspect the job beforehand to notice that that was serious mold, rotted
wood and drywall, which can be a hazard to the tenantWith that said, I brought this to the contractors attention and he couldn't believe I did not tell him this earlierI told him that this was not my responsibility and I assumed that being an experienced contractor you would have already inspected the jobWith that said, the tenant told my employee not to put a 2" band of tile along the OUTSIDE of the tub, as he wants the rotted drywall and wood to be repaired firstWe did this at his request, mind you that the sower was fully operational at that timeSo when I receive a tirade of text that the job is not complete, I explained the above to him. As as for payment we discussed a priceAnd materials, in this case the purchase of the actual tile, were not includedI do not include that in any of my estimates and I have multiple, multiple estimates I can show that I do not include that in my pricingI would also be more than willing to provide several top notch contractors recommendations on my past work with them over the years. I I feel my business handled this job in a responsible way and not be punished for someone else's shortcomings

I am rejecting this response because:
Chris S*** was hired to remove the old tile and drywall and replace with new dense shield and tile because of water damage Had he of done this completely, there would be do issue with the drywall work needed later He also started the tile on top of the old caulking about 3/of an inch above the tub making it impossible to ever keep it from cracking and causing more damage to the backing he told me the tub was out of level Yes it is, but as a professional you cut the first row of tiles so that they are tight against the tub and level the rest of the way up He also told me there was nothing to attach the dense shield to the side of the tub to carry the border down As you can see by the pictures there are 2xstuds there to screw the dense shield to and finish the job He told me this was 100% completed and never told me of any other problems He was hired by me to do a job and not the tenant Only solution now is a refund He does not care about his workmanship or the people he works for Every time I contacted him about the work he gave me another excuse to why it was so poorly done Blaming others for your poor workmanship will not be excepted by my company

I am rejecting this response because:Chris S[redacted] was hired to remove the old tile and drywall and replace with new dense shield and tile because of water damage.  Had he of done this completely, there would be do issue with the drywall work needed later.  He also started the tile on top of the old caulking about 3/4 of an inch above the tub making it impossible to ever keep it from cracking and causing more damage to the backing.  he told me the tub was out of level.  Yes it is, but as a professional you cut the first row of tiles so that they are tight against the tub and level the rest of the way up.  He also told me there was nothing to attach the dense shield to the side of the tub to carry the border down.  As you can see by the pictures there are 2 2x4 studs there to screw the dense shield to and finish the job.  He told me this was 100% completed and never told me of any other problems.  He was hired by me to do a job and not the tenant.  Only solution now is a refund.  He does not care about his workmanship or the people he works for.  Every time I contacted him about the work he gave me another excuse to why it was so poorly done.  Blaming others for your poor workmanship will not be excepted by my company.
