The operation at Vivid has a bit of a nontraditional look to it - high security and not much on display, and you feel like you're more at the hub of a big diamond wholesaler (I think they do a lot of this too) and less retail workIt felt like a place that could maybe offer good prices but not flexibilityAlso, *** is a younger guy in a business where one might expect age, and one fairly wonder (as I did) whether he or she were in the right placeMy experience was that in spite of those things, *** was more professional and effective that jewelers decades older, and delivered uncompromising results to a customer (me) that had been told by others that I should consider something else (i.e., what they had in stock)I had long ago purchased a diamond from a large internet retailer known for fair prices, and so only needed a settingBy the way, this alone makes some jewelers reluctant to work with you, since not selling a stone removes a big chunk of profit, but *** never made me feel like a second-class citizen because of itHe did mention, however, that he almost certainly could have beaten their price on a diamond, tooI have every reason to believe him, and my suggestion to someone starting to ring-shop would be to see what Vivid can offer for stones in addition to settings
