Review: Ordered windows through [redacted] Windows. Contract misleading. Thought was ordering [redacted] Windows and ordering [redacted] windows. Company not licensed or bonded in State of Delaware. Feel being mislead by product description/brochure given and legality of company doing business in Delaware. Called to cancel contract but not given permission and was told stuck with order/contract or pay a penalty. No work has been done as no measurements have been made. Had given $10,000 deposit and want refunded and [redacted] Windows will not comply. They first quoted me $28,966 for job then given discount and requoted $23,400 to keep contract. I am feeling very anxious and uncomfortable doing business with a company that misled me.Desired Settlement: Refund my $10,000 with cancelled contract.

Review: On 03/28/signed Agreement for a [redacted] 9' Gliding Door in Brnz/Brnz ([redacted] from color swatch left with me) with 'hardware to match door color' written on the paper work1st check of $1,given to salesmanOn 05/15/door arrived and was partially installed when I noticed scratches on it and it was the wrong color (RB342)Call made to office, installer instructed to finish install and another door would be ordered2nd and 3rd checks of $1,and $1,(less $per Craig) given to installerOn 07/01/14, the replacement door arrived and upon completion, I noticed the door handle(with the lock mechanism) did not match the door color4th check of $given to installersOn 07/02/I e-mailed a photo of the handle to Craig with priority attention requestedNo response receivedOn 07/11/I called the office asking for Craig, he returned my call later that dayAt that point he told me I had a 'special color' painted door (1st time I heard this) and it does not come with 'matched hardware'! "He will try to find one for me"On 07/21/I called the manufacturer ([redacted] Building Products) to confirm this informationThey did.On 08/12/14, I call [redacted] once again, Matt M[redacted], GM, answered the phoneHe and I discussed the issues and I came away from that conversation feeling there was no resolution to having my door hardware match the door color with a [redacted] product or a monetary optionNOTE: the 1st door hardware DID match the door colorOffer made to find another manufacturer to make door hardware to matchOn 08/22/[redacted] of [redacted] showed up and looked at the situationI asked him about another manufacturer's handle on my doorHe emphatically stressed another manufacturer's handle & lock would not match up with what I have in the door installedHe wrote up a report which he told me would be addressed with [redacted]To date, I have not had any further contact from [redacted].Desired Settlement: I would like to have some compensation for the error in initially ordering the wrong color door and the additional time I had to be available for the removal of the 1st door and install of the 2nd one

Response:
The history given by the customer is accurateWe had forwarded the matter to the manufacturers warranty department since it related to a complaint with the color of the hardwareThe manufacturer reported that there is a shade difference in the hardware and the doorWe have spoken to the customer repeatedly about this issueWe offered to provide upgraded "fancy" hardware in either brass or nickel at no additional chargeUnfortunately, there is no exact color matched hardware available since the door is a custom colorThis is typical of sliding door hardwareIt is rare that sliding door hardware matches the door itselfIt is typically a contrasting color or made of brass or nickel

Review: My wife and I own an historical townhouse in Philadelphia and decided to replace the 100 year old windows we currently have. We decided to call Acre windows because they advertised that they offer financing that was required for us to do the job. They also explained that they deal with historical windows and know what is needed. A sales rep from the company came to our house at 7PM on June 12 and after spending over 3 hours with us made us feel guilty if we did not sign the contract. He came wearing an [redacted] window logo on his polo and left with a $1500 deposit on our credit card. The pricing started at over $15,000 and by magic went down to a mere $10,800 for six windows. By this time my wife and I were exasperated and didn't question him any longer. Of course the next day we expressed buyer's remorse but went ahead with the bank financing as we were told that the check would be mailed directly to us. Since June 12 I have called six times where some were forwarded to voice mail and other times there was no answer at all even during normal business hours. I have emailed four times and have only spoken to someone once. It is now 2 months later, I just paid my first loan payment and still have no windows. The salesman who was here on June 12 said that the job would be completed by the first week of August which has now passed. I recently emailed saying that I would like to cancel my contract but nobody has responded. Acre windows makes you believe that they are connected with [redacted] windows but they merely sell them. We went along with this deal thinking that a large reputable company was behind them but they are not. We feel that we have over paid ( caveat emptor ) but to add insult to injury have not seen a window while Acre windows has $1500 of our money and we are paying a loan that we really cannot afford.Desired Settlement: I understand that someone came to take measurements and I would be happy to compensate for that but since no windows were ordered and no work was done I would expect a substantial part of my deposit to be credited.

Response:

We have reached out to the customer and will adhere to his request to cancel the order and issue the appropriate refund in accordance with his desire. We need to speak to the customer and execute appropriate releases to cancel the order.

Review: On 5/13/2013 I had 14 windows installed by [redacted] Replacement Windows and shortly after the caulk around the interior of the windows were cracking. On a subsequent visit on 4/29/2013 recaulking was done along with minor repairs. On 6/9/2013 and 6/23/2013 emails were sent to owner, project manager and office assistant informing of my disappointment that the caulk was again cracking.

I had also asked the owner of the company, [redacted] on 4/24/2013 to provide me proof that I was given the discount that they were advertising on their website. He promised to provide me with invoice but I have yet to receive anything.Desired Settlement: I want the cracking caulk repaired properly.

Also, I would like a refund of $1500 for the promotion offered on their website which they have yet to prove that I received.

Business

Response:

We are in receipt of the customer complaint and will send him a price breakdown showing the discounting that was provided to him, (including the $1,500 discount that he recieved), and we will also call to schedule a time to repair the caulking per his request.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

As this business has attempted to fix the cracking caulk once before and has failed I would like to know what work is going to be performed.
