Vollmer Air Duct Cleaning Reviews (5)

I had a Groupon for duct cleaning When the technician CE he made excuses to clean my ducts and instead wanted to upsell me a cleaning for after I told him no, he said, I'm not cleaning your ducts I proceeded to tell him I was gonna call the company to get a refund or get someone to come and do the job So he said, that's ok I'll call the office and make sure they give you a refund Well I waited for someone to call me from the officee a manager called me back He asked what had happened and I told himHe said let me talk to my technician He called me back and he said that the technician told him that I threw him out and that my husband had apologized all the way out to his teuck for my behavior That I had not allowed him to take pictures Wow! That never happened, the technician lied I was very hurt that he had lied about what had happened Well I told the manager that it never happened aand he said, I believe my technician I said, wow Ok, he said ma'amm quit or I won't give you a refund Well since the technician had called me before coming to my house I texted him aand told him that I was hurt he had lied and that I have all his actions on video as my house has several cameras I then got a text from the manager for me to quit calling and texting the technician and to justove on or he will not issue a refund Well I want to alert others that might be scammed and pressures into buying other stuff they don't need from this companyY daughter said that maybe they pressur employees to upsell and so if they lie that I threw him out the owner will be ok with the employee It's just sad and I hope they don't pressure an older couple which is what we are into their web of deceitfulness I'm in process of getting refund from Groupon

Purchased their service through groupon to clean HVAC vents and return vent My air and heating was replaced one year ago with a top of the line unit The technician came out and he went directly to the unit and said I had mold I had the furnace and vents inspected multiple times throughout the years I've lived there and not one of them had said that I had a mold problem The tech told me that he could remove the mold and clean the vents for $ I told him no and sent him on his way I had another tech from a different company come and they said I didn't have a level of mold to be concerned about He indicated that almost all homes will have some mold, but he indicated that what the other tech probably said was mold was just dirt/dust The tech also told me that Texas law states that a company that first identifies mold is not allowed to try to treat/clean the mold This law is supposed to help reduce scamming like this While Vollmer indicated they would give me a refund, I would consider this to be a scam where they show up and immediately try to make you pay for more services that you really don't need

In Sep 2015, we had Vollmer Air Duct Cleaning clean our ducts because of a deal offered on Living Social. When they opened the plenum, there were mold spots that they said were a serious condition that needed to be treated. They charged us over $1000 for two treatments, two weeks apart. I did not notice any improvement in the air quality but then I never noticed any problem prior to the treatment. This past week, I had my air conditioning system replaced. When I opened the closet door for the furnace/air handler, the HVAC technician immediately asked me, had someone done some work on this unit. I told him about the duct cleaning and inquired why he asked. He showed me that the exhaust pipe from the furnace had been removed or knocked aside and it was only over 2/3 of the furnace's exhaust opening. He said we were lucky we were not poisoned. I sent Vollmer a picture and complaint--no response. Later when the technician took out the coil from the system, it was covered with mold. I asked how that could be with the mold treatment Vollmer did. He said that without the proper licensing, Vollmer could not treat the coil. He said the mold Vollmer detected in the plenum originated from the coil. I then sent another email and pictures to Vollmer. Among other things, I asked for a refund knowing I wouldn't get one but hoping that would generate a response, which it did.

Vollmer denied removing the exhaust pipe saying they did not know what had happened in my house during the last year. I was the only one who was in the closet since their employees were in it and I changed filters that were located three feet from the pipe. They on the other hand removed a panel in the plenum that was two inches from the pipe. I find it extremely hard to believe that the pipe could have been off before they worked on the system and they didn't notice it and tell me. I can only conclude they removed it or knocked it off its mount.

Regarding the mold on the coil, Vollmer stated, Quote: "The mold that was found on the coil is surface mold which after being treated with the antimicrobial solution it is non active. The product we use is Sporicidin, it kills mold on contact and you can read up on it further on the website http://www.sporicidin.com/." Unquote. The chemical was introduced into the system above the coil with the air handler fan running. They would have me believe the chemical went through the plenum, through all the ducts, through all the vents, through the house, through the return vents, through the air filter and retained enough potency to kill the mold on the coil. Even if one would buy into that unlikely scenario, my reading on the web site Vollmer directed me to revealed this: Quote: "Can Sporicidin Disinfectant Solution be used to clean air ducts? Sporicidin Disinfectant Solution can be used when cleaning air ducts, but because the EPA has ruled that air ducts cannot be disinfected, this product is not recommended for air duct applications other than cleaning mold off of hard non-porous surfaces such as registers and vents." Unquote. Assuming the chemical company knows what it is talking about, what exactly did I pay over $1000 for?

I again referred my comments to Vollmer and asked if they had anything else for me to consider. They did not respond. I do not recommend this company for any air duct service.
