Review: Ambulance Company is taking senior citizens for a rideMy mother is 91 and has enrolled since 2006 in an annual subscription service with Volunteer Medical Services Corps (VMSC) of Lansdale an ambulance service that is supposed to eliminate her out of pocket cost for their transportation services. Over the past few months she needed to be transported to area hospitals and has been billed her $100.00 medical deductable by VMSC. I called VMSC questioning why she was billed for the amount not covered by her insurance but for which she purchased coverage from VMSC their ambulance services last Ocotber and again in December of 2012. VMSC told me that a billing service handles the billing and to call them. I called the billing service and they told me that they bill the insurance deductable just in case the member has any additional insurance. I told the billing service that I believe their practice is questionable at best and that my mother was about to pay the fee and should not have been billed. They told me that that is their practice.VMSC billed my mother again for transpiration to the hospital on December 21st, 2012 and has sent her a follow up invoice. I feel that this is a fraudulent practice targeting senior citizens who are unknowingly paying fees for coverage they have purchased from VMSC.Can you look into this for my mom and others who are getting ripped off and have them send a letter of apology to my mother and assurance that they will stop this practice. She has been purchasing coverage from VMSC to cover any nonreimbursed insurance billing for their services each year since 2006.
