Company's response blow:Subject: Case # *** - Mr*** ***Mr*** dropped off his vehicle for service on a Friday, due to an internal engine noise Appointment was not until the following MondayMr*** was concerned and dropped the vehicle off several days prior to
his appointment Our *** *** completed a test drive with Mr*** to confirm engine noise After the test drive the vehicle was parked and locked, the keys were brought inside the dealership and put away.Late Sunday night the dealership was broken into, intruders threw a cinderblock through the exterior glass of the dealership and intruders enters the building.Several items were stolen, including the keys to Mr***'s vehicleThey stole Mr***’s vehicle, the vehicle was recovered and following day.We diagnosed Mr***’s vehicle as needing a replacement engine It is our professional opinion that the engine failed prior to the vehicle being stolen. The *** *** informed Mr*** that the vehicle would require a replacement engine His insurance company stated they would replace it with a remanufactured engine, but not a brand-new engine The cost difference is roughly $6, We communicated to Mr***, the dealership would contribute $3,and pay $of his deductible.Mr*** thought we should pay 100% and contacted *** *** ** *** *** Stated that if he did not get 100% of the cost to replace with a brand new engine, that he would go on *** *** and also let the *** community know - threatening the dealership.I spoke with Mr*** and confirmed his statements to *** *** ** *** *** I communicated to him we do not respond to threats and the offer was still goodWe would pay for half of the difference between a remanufacture and a new engine.I received a call from his insurance company and they stated they would only pay for a remanufacture engine, per his policy This was communicated to Mr*** by his insurance company.Several days later a tow truck came and picked the vehicle up and we have not had any contact since. In closing, we made every responsible step to keep his vehicle safe while in our possession He signed the repair order that states we are not responsible for any damage while the vehicle is in our possession Mr***’s policy states they will only pay for a remanufactured engineHowever, we offered to pay half of the difference of a brand new engine and $of his deductibleWe made a very generous offer to conclude the situation.Thank you *** *** *** *** ***

Company's second response below:Hi *** ***,Upon inspection, Mr*** circumvented our standard check in process and no signature was found However Mr*** had scheduled an appointment on a Monday and decided to drop off three days prior (Friday). The vehicle was locked and the keys were stored inside a locked dealership equipped with an alarm system We made a reasonable effort to secure Mr***’s vehicle Unfortunately, intruders threw a cinderblock through the exterior glass of the dealership and gained access to the building and obtained Mr***’s key to the vehicle. If more information is needed, I can be contacted at *** Thank you
