rented a vacation property from vrbo for my son's birthday. As the date approached, there was an unprecedented spike in covid 19 cases in myrtle beache with the city closing down some areas to contain the large number of covid 19 cases.
I called the owner asking to cancel and obtain a refund, and was referred to vrbo for the refund.
After multiple loooon, and I mean long wait times and several cutoff calls with the promise to call back, Vrbo informs me that the owners cancellation policy, which is no refunds or changes will be upheld.
I explained the circumstances and still no change.
I also tried to contact the owner directly and she will not discuss with me, kept acting like she could not hear what I was saying.
This is the worst experience of my life. From wanting to do something great to celebrate my son's birthday to now being loosing $1,142 with no recourse.
I was recently furloughed from my job as well, so the blow of loosing this money is just too much.
Vrbo was completely unhelpful except when the collected the payment for the reservation. They have shirked all responsibility and passed it on to the owner, whom I have no name, no email address and no obvious way of contacting them except via VrBO, who says they are not responsible.
