I am standing by the time that was tracked in my timecard and shown in the attachment sent yesterday I believe that is a more accurate representation the time spent on the project than [redacted] and [redacted] memory As far as the dump goes it is more cost effective to handle the waste material that way than to have a roll-off unit put on site which would have been the alternative What was billed to the [redacted] s is what the job cost to get done

Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because: With either myself or my wife being on location while the work was being done, I have a real good idea how much actual time was spent doing the job, by knowing what time you arrive and what time you leave, its not hardWe were billed for 70+ hours total on this jobThis would almost be full weeks of hour days for one manThere is no way that VSW was working on this job one day shy of full weeksEven with all the so called extra time that was spent on finishing / mudding etcthis was not 70+ hour jobIf this is really all the work that can get done in almost two full weeks of billed time, then I would anticipate that I am not the only one that has complained about your time billedI have had other contractors do work in the past, and they got way more work done in less time than what VSW billing for this jobI think the miscommunication here is also that when the job was Bid/Estimated whateverWe were not provided with an explanation ahead of time what VSW's definition of an bid and an estimate isI again have had other contractors do work for me and they have not ever said anything like this to meI also think it should have been written out how much it was going to be for a "dump run", since this was known ahead of timeIf that had been included in an estimate, then I would have said "NO" to the job upfrontThis has been the only time that I have ever been billed for hourly time to gather materials, and go to the dumpSome of this time just comes with being a contractorIf you expect to get $40/hr to go to the hardware store, I don't think that is reasonablePlus if that is billed time how do you expect your customer to feel when they know how much time was on the job, and then how much time you charge for off site workI would say in this case there is about 20-hours of off site work that is being billedThis would be 1/of a week full timeWhat were you doing for me for 1/of a week hours a day, when the only materials there was is a beam and a couple pieces of roofing? I realize that you spent time preparing the beam, staining, etcBut other then the beam prep which you told us was a couple of hours, the other time was on the job siteIf that's accurate, then again there is no way you got to 70+ hours of labor timeWe also asked many times how the cost of the job was lookingThe last time we asked about this we were informed that it would be about more than the bid with only a few hours left to finish, and then when the bill comes it is almost over the bidI realize that numbers change, and it is hard to just give an accurate number on the spot, but if you cant be more accurate than this then I would expect more customers of yours to feel like you misled themSincerely,*** ***

Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because:I don't have anything more to say in this regard, doesn't sound like we are going to come to anything to resolve the matterSincerely,*** ***

I have attached the breakdown of my hours spent on their project.  I track my hours very diligently because it helps me with estimating future projects.   I find it hard to believe that off of memory they have a more accurate guess of my hours than I do here.  The project was never...

done as a "bid" project and none of our documentation before, during, or after uses the word bid.  This project budget was based off an estimate I had given them not a bid.  We did an estimate because of the nature of the project and the likely-hood of potential changes which happened.  Since the project budget was based off an estimate and not a bid we billed this project as a time and materials job.  In this type of billing man hours spent working on the project (which includes material allocation and transportation to the job site)  are billed out at an hourly rate.  Also, [redacted] and [redacted] were informed about the status of the budget at 10:32 am on 9/22/15 when I sent [redacted] a text message saying, “As far as our budget goes we are probably at our budget of $1956 or a couple hundred over.”  From that day until the end of the project my total hours were 23 hours @ $40 equaling $920 after we had spoken about the budget.  If they were under the impression this was a bid job then why were they worried about the budget on a fixed price job, and why did they not approach us to address their concerns after telling them we were going over budget.  We could have come up with ways to reduce the overall cost; such as, them doing some of the work like staining and clear coating the beam. That alone would have reduced approximately 6 hours and 3 trips out to their house.  Instead they let me put In 23 more hours on their project never saying a word they were concerned about the budget.  As far as the dump run goes the dump close by charges by volume not weight and will not accept items over four feet.  We felt it was more cost/time effective to dispose of the waste at the main disposal site 30 miles away form the site rather than at the roll off location closer to the job.  [redacted] and [redacted] said they were happy with the quality of the work done and had mentioned they would like to get an estimate on a future project.  Their dispute is based only on the price of the project and are using their best guess of my hours spent on the job to get out of paying what the job actually cost.  We have given them time to pay the bill and have offered to let them make interest free payments on the remaining balance.   It is unfortunate that we have gotten to this point but in no way is the bill fraudulent.
Thank you,
[redacted]
