I spoke to Mr. [redacted] and discussed his needs and apologized to him for my inability to properly explain that I was only trying to give him advice regarding the condition of his walls in the basement. My suggesting he get the opinion of an engineer and not a basement waterproofer was not meant to...

disparage the competition, rather to get a qualified opinion from someone who have no agenda. I believe Mr. [redacted] and I have worked through the situation and we have agreed to perhaps, revisit Vulcan helping him with his water problem some time in the future. We have refunded Mr. [redacted]'s deposit today by mail and hope to have him as a customer in the near future.

I had previously contracted with one of your competitors, [redacted], for a water remediation system in my basement. That company tried getting through the floor, and after approximately 4 - 4 1/2 hours of jack hammering and air hammering, they informed me that they were abandoning the job because it would take a week to get through my floor for the approximate thirty foot run. They re-cemented the floor where they had broken through the concrete and walked away from the job. The workman told me that no one could do the job if they could not do it. They left my house a shambles and with water in areas that I previously did not have any.
Despite my reluctance to call any other company, I did call several other contractors. Mike [redacted] from Vulcan came to my house and repeatedly reassured me that your company would get the job done. After doing some research, I reluctantly entered into contract with Vulcan Waterproofing through Mr. [redacted]. The job was scheduled to begin in a week.
From the moment I entered into contract until Tuesday when the men arrived, I was preparing myself for another disaster. I thought that if I were prepared for the worst, I would not be as devastated as I was when [redacted] abandoned the job previously. I even considered canceling the contract pursuant to my three day right of rescission, but fought off the urge to do so.
When the team arrived at my house, my trepidation began to subside immediately. Four men, not three boys, as the previous contractor had sent, exited the van. They brought with them an air compressor and did not have to leave the job to get one as the previous contractor had done. They had the air hose come through a window rather than through my house. They advised me to shut down the air conditioner so as not to disperse the concrete dust through the house. In less than one hour of air hammering, your men accomplished more than the previous contractor had done all day.
Carlos, the foreman, ran the air hammer for four hours and was fully done with the thirty foot run by 1:00pm. While he was hammering, the other men were removing the debris he loosened, were laying the perforated pipe and were installing the sump pump and discharge pipe. They all worked together like a well-oiled machine. The job was completely finished by 2:30pm despite the fact that the men were soaked from being out in the pouring rain.
I am thrilled with the professionalism of your team and the water remediation system that has been installed. Vulcan Basement Waterproofing accomplished what [redacted] said was impossible. My only regret is not having contracted with your company initially. It would have saved me a great deal of anxiety.

Revdex.com:I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Review: I contacted this firm for a free written estimate. A salesman arrived at my residence on Sat., 11/1. The deal sounded pretty good and I signed a contract knowing I had three business days to cancel with no penalty. After careful consideration I decided to cancel the transaction for the purpose of getting 1 or 2 additional estimates from other similar companies. I personally traveled to Vulcan and hand delivered the cancellation notice on 11/5 which was within the 3 business days. I explained to the gentlemen my reasons for canceling and informed him that I still may use Vulcan but am not ready to commit at this time and am requesting a refund of my down payment of $1200.00. The gentlemen did all he could to discourage my cancellation and stated: " We do not want to keep your money, we want your business." I again insisted on a refund and told the gentlemen: " I still may use Vulcan, however, need to get a few more estimates." The gentlemen proceeded to tell me all the negative things about competitors which I found both insulting and unprofessional. I again reiterated my desire to cancel for which the gentlemen stated: "We will keep the appointment as scheduled for Monday, 11/10. I recieved a phone call from a Vulcan rep indicating he was a manager. I again stated: I am not ready to commit and want a refund. Still not receiving a refund, I placed 3 more calls leaving a message to get my money back. On Sunday, 11/9/14 I received a message from a Vulcan foreman telling me they will arrive at 9:30 AM on 11/10/14 and I should have a certified or bank check in the amount of 4800.00 as the balance. Very annoyed, I called the company and spoke to a woman who indicated she would leave a message. On 11/10 at 8:30 AM, Vulcan arrived at my home while I was at work. My wife indicated the job was canceled "lasr week". the Foreman and his crew left the premises. My wife called me very upset. I placed another call to Vulcan indicating my displeasure and again inDesired Settlement: I want my $1200.00 deposit returned and do not expect to wait any longer. This company has put me through the ringer and has been manipulative and unscrupulous. Under no conditions will I ever reccomend this company to anyone. While I intended to consider them for future work, at this point I am willing to exceed their cost simply through this bad experience. This company has been giving me the run-around and have not returned any of my calls nor have they returned my 1200.00. This situation needs to be shared with future victims.
