are also very sorry about the death of Miki.
Miki has boarded
with us since 2012 with no complications of illness at our facility. At each
drop off it was brought to the staff’s attention by the owner that Miki has a
cough due to a collapsing trachea as well as seizures. There was also a
palpable cough noted in multiple exam notes since 2012.
When Miki
presented to us in June 2014 it was initially suspected that she had kennel
cough. Our veterinarian recommended x-rays to rule out other underlying issues
and found a collapsing trachea, enlargement of the cardiac silhouette, and a
deviation in the trachea, suggesting the possibility of a mass pressing on the
trachea. The client was sent home with supportive care and recommendations for
additional work up if there was no improvement. Additional work up would
include ultrasound or CT at an emergency facility because these tests are not
offered at our facility. Miki’s owner walked into the clinic approximately 4
hours later and, because of Miki’s continued decline, it was recommended they
pursue care at the VES (An emergency facility in Middleton) to have an
ultrasound done. They were also better equipped to give Miki the best care
needed for his condition. Owners did pursue care at the VES where they declined
an ultrasound and elected humane euthanasia. The veterinarians at the VES
agreed that Miki had severe underlying health issues.
Our boarding
facility is cleaned appropriately according to OSHA standards and we have an
open door policy to anyone who wants to tour our facility. All dogs are given a
complimentary bath prior to going home.
Marsha
called Waggin’ Tails on 09/09/14 and stated she would pay $102.60 for the
boarding charges only. She also stated “I’ll remove my reviews, if you remove
my balance.” On 09/10/14 the Fitchburg Veterinary Hospital and Waggin’ Tails
proposed to Marsha, paying the balance of $102.60 and we would remove the
remaining balance of $260.87. In turn, Marsha would need to remove all negative
reviews completely, not write any new reviews or speak poorly of our facility.
She would also release us of all liability in this matter and report to the Revdex.com
the issue has been resolved. Marsha requested we mail her a copy of what she
would need to sign. This was mailed to her 09/11/14.
We are
working on resolving this very unfortunate situation with Marsha.
