Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2014/06/24) */
This team paid $445 not $495 to play in the event listed in his complaint. It rained all week leading up to the baseball tournament including the day the tournament was suppose to start. Our refund policy states that if the tournament...

is cancelled due to inclement weather the team gets a credit towards a future tournament of their registration fee less a $100 admin fee. It does not say anything about inclement weather "during the tournament only" as inclement weather before the tournament can cause a baseball event to be cancelled. It simply states due to inclement weather. The rain all week caused the Crown Point Park District to cancel the permits because the fields were unplayable because of all of the rain during the week leading up to the event. This was completely explained to the team filing this claim. This policy is posted on our website. He admits that the rain all week caused the event to be cancelled. He could have simply applied this credit to a tournament he registered for in late June but had not paid for it. Instead he copies a bunch of other people and tries to play hero while insulting me and in my opinion libeling me. Walk Off Youth Sports does not want managers like this participating in our events. I am willing, in this matter, to send a check for his tournament credit totaling $345 which is his registration less the $100 admin fee. This is my final offer to this team considering how this coach has conducted himself.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 8, 2014/06/25) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Walk Off Sports claims it rained up to, AND INCLUDING, the day the tournament was supposed to start. Yes, the tournament's "listed" start date was May 16th, yet NO GAMES WERE SCHEDULED for that day (the schedule was posted on May 14th). I have a complete listing of all scheduled games, all of which were scheduled for May 17th and 18th. Saturday, May 17th, was a beautiful day for baseball. Instead Walk Off Youth Sports chose a cancellation policy that benefits Walk Off Sports which allowed them to take over $2300 from the baseball clubs signed up for their tournament. The tournament was cancelled one day prior to any games scheduled and no games were started nor played. Inclement weather, as a tournament cancellation, is typically used when games have started and are under way.
Regardless of this, Mr [redacted] removed my team from a future Walk Off Sports tournament disallowing a credit to a future tournament (as his policy states) due to my complaint of this cancellation. Mr. [redacted]'s goal is to delay refund. Many of the other teams, specifically those that have schedule conflicts and cannot schedule a replacement tournament with his organization, have not received their refund. Of course Mr [redacted] would consider any complaint as libelous, his policies are vague and one-sided and open to such question. But given the circumstances, and his response, it's obvious that the goal was to strip the teams of their "administrative fee" and delay any repayment until it no longer benefits the boys of the affected teams.
We would like our full $445 refunded.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 10, 2014/06/27) */
I put together the schedule for this event on the Wednesday before the event. There was a 100% chance of rain on Friday so I did not schedule any games for Friday. Again, we do not specify inclement weather "during the tournament only" because inclement weather before a baseball event can cause the event to be cancelled. That was the case with this event, 5 days of rain Monday through Friday with heavy rain on Friday, the day the event was listed to start, caused the Park District to cancel their permit because the fields were flooded and unplayable. Here is a simple question, if it had not rained Wednesday, Thursday and Friday would the tournament have been played? The answer is yes, so the inclement weather caused the event to be cancelled.
I will be sending a check today for $345 which is the tournament credit amount per our posted policies, the is owed. These policies have been on our website since February of 2013. I am only sending the check to this team because I do not ever want this manager in any future events! This is my final reply here. The check will go out in today's mail.
